Moving to Chicago
I am moving to Chicago! The company I am currently working for (based in Detroit) has a location in Chicago but since there is no room for me there they are having me work from home.
Lunch time bike rides here I come!
Everyone from Chicago make friends with me here.

And when you're riding down the street when it's 90 and you pass a CTA bus. It feels like you're inside an oven. <3

I've lived in Chicago so I am very familiar with the city.
Is there a park where fixie riders meet daily or weekly afetr work or anything? Just to shoot the **** and go for a ride or anything? I know in New York there is a group of messengers and posengers that meet in central park on Saturdays to trade/sell parts to each other and ride a bit...

Handlebar is a good spot for meeting fellow cyclists. https://www.handlebarchicago.com
Also Cal's - an unofficial "messenger" bar downtown.
Wicker Park has its gluttony of fixie riding girls and boys.
And then there's the DCC. We organize rides every so often. But now we're track obsessed. At least some of us are.

In addition to riding fixed (95% of the time) I also ride a touring bike. The idea of fixed gear touring is stupid to me. When I go on rides that are over 40 miles and I'm wearing lycra/a jersey I'll bust out the touring bike. Like this Saturday I am leaving for a 7 day, 450 mile ride from Detroit to Mackinaw City, Michigan. When I get back my track bike won't recognize me and will probably try to kill me on the first ride.
