Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Track Sprinter Diet

I have been riding track bike for 3 years, but I never thought about what should I eat? And what helps sprinting, any thoughts? Experience?

Sprinting has more to do with genetics and workouts than it does with your diet. As long as you're eating fairly healthy and getting enough of the essential nutrients your body needs, it's probably not something to worry about. The track training/racing forum is probably more geared to what you're looking for.

Hello, there specific Track Cycling forum there https://www.bikeforums.net/track-cyc...training-area/

You may get better responds regarding Track Training there than here but I guess everyone here can share knowledge too since everyone here also rides fixed which similar to Track fixed

Back to topic, talk about diet . . . you gotta eat tons of carbs, I am sure . . . sprinting efforts is about anaerobic zone (well, you can sprint with "aerobic" too)

Sprinting to success in race is not about training and diet alone, you need to do a lot race, learn about when to attack, when to preserve energy, drafting behind other racer because hard sprint is "one shot" you can't afford to sprints multiple time, you flat out, you win or lose, its all or nothing, "timing" is very important, too soon and you risks got drafted by opponent, too slow and you just out of the game.

I am still newbie at Track Racing, perhaps you better go Track Cycling forum I posted link above, you get better answer than mine

Key for sprint is about timing, you may have weaker power (everyone is different after all) than other opponent but if you read timing precisely, you can win

Fun Fact: Drafting is so powerful, if you want to win in sprint match, you must master this at all cost. Even weakling half ass train can draft behind elite sprinter, believe it or not
