Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

just watch out at the beginning. there's a ton of kids and not-so-used-to-their-steeds folks tooling about, so it can get a bit hairy. of course, you probably already know that, having done it last year.

try to start early, and you'll miss the weekend warriors.

So, yeah, if anyone was at the bike fair, I was the guy who got his ass handed to him in the trackstand comp.

It's true. I've never watched one of those competitions before but the competition looked pretty good so don't feel too bad.
sprockets, of course, was the highlight.

Oh, yeah, my friend and I took off for some ice cream after that. I was surprised nobody else entered--there were 100 bikes down there and like 5 people total in the trackstand comp.
