since no one was at the "save the beer" rally I decided to Steamroll to the abandoned river park to join the local outcry about the city paying $3 mil to some insider for a bldg that the city wants to tear down so that they can dig a out a berth in the Neches river so that the city can then GET THE BATTLESHIP TEXAS TOWED INTO THIS CESSPOOL OF A RIVER and build a bigger empty park
because the good citizens of Pasadena texas are tired of it taking up space at their city park and my town doesn't think the old boat should be scrapped

The steel in that battleship can probably be made into a million steel studs to build houses.
Or a million bike frames.

[QUOTE Just good to see swords into plows.
I used to live in midtown. About a block from my building there was a statue dedicated to that theme, with the quote inscribed at the base.
I think it must have been tongue in cheek though - some joker ironically installed it right in front of the U.N. building...

Working through the weekend so today was my 'Sunday'. Wasn't too windy so took a short ride down to Navy Pier to get a couple pics. Cheers

Logged my first miles on my new SS today
Can’t post a pic but I did get to enjoy my new ss. I’ve never owned a ss road bike and I’m in love with it. So fast and light compared to riding my lunky 27.5 plus on the road !

It's part of a Cat Eye Quick CC-RS100W computer. The wheel magnet and handlebar monitor were left at home since I use Strava to record my outdoor rides, and I don't like the clutter if it's not necessary. I leave the fork sensor on because it's a hassle to re-ziptie.

1st Single-Speed Sunday of 2022!
With the Clunker Challenge completed for the year, I thought it was time to return to the fixed-wheel. I pulled Maitre Jacques the ‘71 Gitane TdF from his pegs, pumped up the tires to 80 psi and set off for at
least a few miles, because few miles beats no miles all hollow.
I was late getting started and it was soon beastly hot - no, not really, any beast with sense was sheltering in the shade. Almost immediately I was struck by how smoothly and well this bike runs. I romped up the hills of Deadfall Road, alternating seated turning-‘em-round and dancing on the pedals and while I felt the climb, it wasn’t bad. From thence it was across 246 and 25 and over to Dixie. I didn’t have the Hodges Run in me, so I took Deadfall’s extension to its end at Clem Road, then Old Abbeville to Langley with a side trip to the Y. On then to Northside Drive, grateful to avoid the church traffic that would crank up a few minutes later and back home with 12 miles in. I need more time on the bike!
No new photos, it was too hot to stop for them, but here’s a photo of today’s mount -

Two of my favorite LBS had a group ride together last Sunday. Met a 40-year-old messenger from NOLA with maybe the prettiest fixed gear bike I've ever seen.
He ordered this Gan Well Pro track bike from NJS exports, said he'd been dreaming of ordering one from the site for some time and decided to pull the trigger on this one. The frame has been raced, and still has its Keirin sticker. NJS (almost) everything, super tasteful build:

Happy Sunday!
Drilled my frame for a rear brake and trying to do more miles off of the bike path on my fixed gear. Hilly around here so it’s difficult but so much fun! Having front and rear brakes makes me feel a lot more comfortable on this bike for sure.
