State 4130 single speed

Finally received my State 4130 single speed yesterday. I intend to assemble it on the weekend. It's the army green with the bullhorn handlebars. Will post photos when assembled

Had my first ride today, about 3 miles. It was more of a shakedown ride to see if I assembled it properly. I was pleasantly surprised at the handling. I did not use the State seat but a ‘comfort’ seat I had bought from my Trek.
That ride showed me how much out of cycling shape I am.
I need a lot more miles and riding time!

The handle feels a bit low for me, what are your opinions on a riser bar 40, 60, or 100mm?

Hmmm... maybe flip the stem so it has some rise. 100mm is a lot for a riser bar -- mine are 20 or 25 at most. It looks like you've got a lot of seatpost showing above the top tube and a tall saddle -- I hate to be "that" guy, but are you sure the frame is the right size for you?

The risers felt more comfortable. My shoulder width is about 600mm. The bullhorns also are a bit narrower than the risers 570mm vs 400mm.

I’ve ordered some 28c’s myself. Should get them by next week. I hope they give a softer ride than the 25’s presently on there. After I’ve installed the 28’s I’ll see if I can go wider. I would like to be able to 30’s.

Just measure how much clearance you have with your current tires to figure out how big you can go. You want about 2mm of clearance on each side as well as enough clearance under the calipers.
