Thanks, my old one got a cracked bottom bracket and this was the warranty replacement, I had already planned out a nice custom steel frame and then they approved a warranty on my 11 year old Langster so I just put that build on the Rio and I love it. The next one is going to be that build turned up to 11 on a titanium bike. I am hoping to copy the champagne polished finished on the Super 75 stuff but I am broke as joke right now and really don't NEED another bike but the vision in my head is just super dreamy.

Always loved the look of those Level frames so I might have to do a tribute to that in titanium. Yours in particular looks like a good match for the Super 75 stuff.

Thanks - that frame has slacker angles than any other track bike I have ridden - The handling is a few hairs closer to a road bike - I really do Love the ride - it’s a great bike to take long rides on or rides in the park - fast rides too - so stable at any speed and so willing to change direction - but for dense daytime traffic situations my other bikes are a little more suitable/ nimble.

Alas a custom bike is an elusive dream at the moment for me too. - Yamaguchi maybe? I’d love to try a titanium bike proportioned right for my freaky proportions but ….yeah.

Nice I am more a roadie and have zero velodromes in my area so a track bike makes no sense but a nice fixed gear road bike would be perfect.

The 'guchi is pretty nice, he does excellent work. I really want to take Koichi's course and build a frame with him at some point. I would do it, well worth it. Maybe even try Dave Levy at TiCycles he does great work at pretty reasonable prices.

fair enough I’d love to have a fixed road frame myself - someday - at the moment it’s more Japanese Keirin frames that temp me - they all ride differently - it’s fun!

Yeah its mind bending that he offers that course and has the reputation that makes taking it such a holy grail experience - I wish my time was my own and my finances could justify it. He is indeed a master craftsman. Do it if you can.

Ticycles looks pretty impressive - for titanium I’ve looked at Weis,no22, & Litespeed. But as I said I have never had the chance to try titanium - and thin wall steel is so nice where I ride so at this point if I were to go custom I would go lugged steel.

yeah they are cool looking bars - I was checking them out myself - are they fun to ride? Ha ha, and don’t worry your bar wrapping skills will get better - although mine still aren’t impressive.

And as you said I like that they aren’t too wide my shoulders are NARROW - I’m naturally aero!

not a ton of time on them yet, but yeah, they feel great (i suspect anything would feel better than the bars i was using lol)

yeah its not my best work, it looks less jagged from the seat. I was trying to stretch 1 roll of bar tape for both sides of the bar (left over from abt a year ago; i used to use bar tape for grips on my flat bars)

Scott bars: That was my first thought. The side view I saw first, I thought they were same as my early '90s Scott clip-ons, then I saw they were the tri bars, but still have that same distinctive plastic bridge at the nose. Mine is same, was dayglo green along with the forearm pads until I spray-painted them all flat black:

the sneaker thing happened!! ive never ridden in these shoes, and was careful on my right shoe to keep my laces tucked away and out of my drivetrain, but on the left side i didnt bother, and got my lace caught in the spindle!! i didn't get hurt, but i needed to enlist the help of a nearby runner to get my foot out of the pedal. another omen pushing me towards clipless. the toe clips also feel too small, this ride was really tough on my ankles and even in my normal shoes i end up angling my feet weird to get them in the clips properly.

Nice - I also have a set of Scott extreme bars - they don’t have the nose bridge but the Same shape elbow pads you have in bright yellow - 90s colors were pretty loud n proud - sometimes it worked.

looks like you have the MKS gr-9 - maybe the gr-10s would be better for your foot size? - or maybe longer pedal spindles?I have the MKS Urban Platforms (double straps like you)but my feet are on the small side and though I do need to angle slightly to get in once in they are comfortable and easy to escape. I wear Adidas Sambas with them. I prefer clip-less for longer rides and that’s what’s on all my bikes right now but for stop and go riding or commuting the Urban Platforms are in my estimation far better and I keep thinking about putting them back on one of my bikes.

yeah, i remember i went slightly against the recomendations on retrogression for foot size, but the gr-9's on the khs feel good with the larger nylon toe clips. my feet are also slightly on the narrow side, so it's not a huge issue if the pedals are narrow.
probably should have gone for gr-10's, urban platforms, or sylvans tho. ill upgrade when i have nothing else to blow money on lol. sadly my lbs can only get mks deep twin toe clips in med-small (a weirdly common stocking issue) so i'm gonna have to get some of those online

had such a fun time this morning, i brought my track bike out too! morning ride was super nice, great grip on the tires, though the gearing is still heavy for "off road". also did my first bit of skidding on the track bike! super fun, though i couldnt quite replicate it on the wet asphalt. lots of snow on the bike path to do it on tho. i don't wanna ruin these tires, but i have some old spares that i might try if i wanna keep at it.

also this stupid gps just loves to die in the cold (garmin edge 130)! really frustrating that it just gives up the ghost with full charge. its been great on warmer days tho

How are you liking the different geo’s for your kind of riding? Any compare and contrast yet?

they're both nice in their own ways. the silver bike sprawls me out more, i think its my largest frame by a little bit. the low bb makes it really stable when i'm slowing down which is nice, though it also means i have to have my seat a bit lower than on my other bikes. the khs is much closer to my commuting bike geometry wise, so it feels a lot more natural to ride. it is a little weird how short the bike feels, but the drop bars let me work around that. also, the height of the bb almost gives me the opposite deal with the seat, where it has the highest saddle of any of my bikes (a hair higher than my commuter bike, which also has a somewhat high bb).

It’s fun to be able to switch it up for sure…

some recent pics. snow on the silver bike was tough, i might need actual, factual snow tires! also dropped the ratio on that bike from 44x15 to 44x16, which makes it a lot more snow/ offroad viable. its been a good choice so far!
