thanks. it's been through hell and back (5 x 1200km brevets), mostly by the original owner, an amazing gentleman by the name of Martin Heath. He's the proprietor of Cinecycle in T.O. (east side of Spadina s. of Richmond, down an alley). TO heads - check out the Ancient Bob Jackson w. Airlite wheels on his wall - just beautiful.

It's really a mishmash of parts. Decent stuff, but more random and modern than i'd like. .

It needs a repaint - badly. There are rumours of a guy in town who does em for $50, but I have to track him down. Thinking of doing it up more French - more rumours of an old shop that has NOS
mafac brakesets and maybe Simplex Derailleurs. I've got an olde Stronglight triple that would be nice.
mavic wheelset to complete the puzzle (tough to get).

As for the Dei - check the integrated headset - just awesome.

Moki,

I'm thinking I might have met you at Bicicyle specialities a little while back. Were you there inquiring about getting a repaint? I met a guy there who was asking about a repaint for a Mariposa touring bike and I talked to him (you?) at the door about a place in Guelph that does repaint as well. I haven't heard of that shop you mentioned and it's right around the corner from where I live. I'm going to head over there now!

Bikes: Check the sig to find out

Got this yesterday for a trade. I had a prob at my bike shop with the guy selling me a frame with cranks and no fork for $350. the frame was beautiful and i thought i was able to fit it even if it as a lil small. Pics of it are here: https://bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=266245
when i realized it was TOO small i talked him into trading for this. Funny things is when i 1st started riding fixed i came across this bike and was worried about the toe-lap and no brake hole so i passed. Now that im comfy with fixed and can ride alot better this is a great deal and a perfect fit, Cconsidering that it has campy record hubs and cranks. this is a real blessing.

Cool. I picture a bunch of them hanging up in all kinds of shimmery colors and it makes me happy. Any idea how much they cost?

Apropos this Umberto Dei a few posts back, I also noticed the fork - I have had my eyes peeled for something like it in the past months but have found nothing... anyone knowing where I can find such a fork would make me very happy. Three conditions: has to be chrome, marked/drillable/drilled for a brake, _and_ flat crown (also, the tube has to be at least 185mm, but the rake ideally not more than 40mm). I have talked to builders but the quotes were way too high due to the price of the chroming they were asking.

Thanks for the suggestions for a fork like that Dei, I should have said I was picky... it's for an Italian frame from the early 70s. It saddens me to have to put a brake on it in the first place but I intend to do it as 'elegantly' as possible, there are threads popping up regularly on this forum about drilled forks, and Colnago road forks are auctioned on eBay almost weekly, which is what I'll be putting on the frame if nothing better comes up. I talked to framebuilders but the quotes for a fork were around $600 chromed, which is just too much. I posted in this thread because of its 'Italian' focus and vintage bias. So no mismatched paintjobs or $20 Taiwanese fork thank you... and no threadless fork either ;)

you may want to check with a local plater. They do jobs in batches, and might toss in your fork for a lot less than what a builder would charge. The advantage of going with a builder is that he could replicate the dimensions of the original fork, whereas whatever you buy on ebay would be a crapshoot.

I know what you mean. The only thing hotter than a flat crown chromed track fork, is a triple plate flat crown chromed track fork! (Like the fork on this bike: https://www.fyxomatosis.com/images/ne...adrianlinz.jpg)As per your question, find an LBS who orders from EAI and price one of these badboys:

https://www.euroasiaimports.com/produ...idCategory=780

They might be pricey, I don't know. Might be cheaper than getting one built/chromed though. Worth a try anyway. I want one of the Colnago undrilled ones for my track bike. I have a perfectly nice flat crown fork on there now but it's not chromed!

My new work in progress, 70's Garlatti frame, some Campy stuff, Nevar Star crankset...deep V's going back on soon. The lugs are polished, the rest is brushed out. Just got home from it's first ride tonight, good times.

The chrome Cinelli fork that EAI carries usually runs around $300. Yojimbo's in Chicago has them in stock, but if theres a store in your area that carries EAI stuff, they should be able to order you one with no problems.

Ooh. That's what I originally thought, but then I figured it must be something vintage, given the rest of the build.
