How was NYC Critical Mass?

San Francisco Critical Mass was huge on Friday. Quite a few people in costumes. Over on the other side of the world I've heard that those fascist NYC cops have been trying to kill the Mass. So I'm curious - how did it go Friday? (You guys do ride the same day as we do over here, right?)

we had a similar lack of police at our's in Toronto -- the police here are currently on a work-to-rule campaign and are only responding to emergency calls. Good times.

it's when you're doing the bare minimum.

It's a tactic used to show how much extra you do every day. You do only what is required in your contract, the bare minimum. It's a good tactic for groups that can't strike because their services are considered essential. Sometimes helps when management is dragging its feet in negotiations. You can maybe keep the public on your side by providing bus, nursing, teaching services, but at the same time make your point about how much you are worth.

huh. didn't know that, or think about that, as a negotiating tactic.
