seattube is held together by a bandanna, welded cassette to hub, stem looks like its way past limit line, no brakes, quick release. Please tell me you wear a helmet?

Bikes: Lots. Mostly steel. Mostly heavy. Mostly geared, and very low, at that.

Freewheels thread on and off. There isn't anything holding the "freewheel" to your wheel but threads that are going to unthread. What you're doing is making your wheel into a wrench to take the freewheel off.

well, generally hubs are aluminum and freewheels are steel, so good luck.
Let me amend that. I just looked at your pictures. Your hub is aluminum. Also, if you try to weld the hub to the freewheel, you're going to cook the spokes. Your wheel won't hold together. I tried to figure a way around this a long time ago when i had a welder and no money.

It would get my vote for "world's most dangerous bicycle" if it weren't for the front and rear reflectors and the wheels' hunter safety orange paint job. Is that so peds and cars can see it and get out of the way? Whatever, my hat's off to you, mp. I'ld definately submit it to the FGG, has a great shot in 2005's best beater bike category.

sweet, thanks, what is the FGG, i'm about to paint the front reflector as a skull and the rear is actually a light because it's illegal to ride in savannah without a front and rear light on your bike, but you can normally get away with just a rear light.

Wow. I have to say I'm impressed. It reminds me of that time I tried to fix my car with a propane torch and some vice grips.

well treechunk, you were right, tonight i was taking a turn and i hit a bump and my cassette threaded off of the hub and smashed the wheel into the frame, the rest of the bike is fine, minus the axle on the quick release that is thouroughly bent. I'm not sure what i'm going to do to fix this, i might just buy a cog off of a friend now that i have my cassette off.

i'll find some way to fix this for free though, i will.
oh yes and i also just found that i broke a tooth clean off of one of the cogs that ride sometimes.
and upon further investigation i actually broke, what i think is the axle, in half.

this was a good lesson i guess, but i'm going to try and weld it all back together because i'm that stupid.

scratch the welding part, that is not do-able with my current situation
looks like i will be bending the quick release skewer back
buying a new axle, and then either buying a cog off of a friend
or trying to weld my casette to my hub.

Well, that's one way to get a freewheel off, ha!
Now that you're this far, I'ld definately buy the track cog. As much as I enjoyed seeing your welding handiwork, you're best bet is the track cog route, not as unique, but a whole lot safer, even if you loctite/bottom-bracket-lock-ring it to your existing hub, plus you get to learn to redish your wheel to get the right chain line. TOns of setups like this riding SAFELY out in the wild.
