Yeah, well at least you had higher end parts on your kilo pro pro, I don't have anything special on my bike.

Do you know how to make this a townie? or something cruisy? or just not exactly like my CAAD, but steel and fixed gear?

Can any owners of the various Motobecane Track/Messinger iterations please tell us how big of tires they can fit in theirs?

This week I made the switch to SPD pedals. Using the Shimano PD M520 pedals/cleats with DZR shoes.

I noticed when I'd go to skid that there seemed to be a bit of "play" and a clicking noise. They don't feel like they're coming unclipped or anything, but it feels like there is some vertical wiggle room.
After a few miles I noticed a clicking, only on the right side, when I'm around 11 o clock.
I've taken my shoes off and just clipped them into the pedal and looked, and I'm still coming to the same conclusion that there is vertical play in the pedal, and I'm hearing metal against metal clicking on every rotation or when I pull up with either foot to skid. It's extremely annoying and distracting.

Is there a way to fix this?

Did you try lubing the moving mechanisms with some lube? Other than that, vertical wiggle is quite weird.

I Have a Motobecane Messenger with tires that measure out to about 30mm with a front brake and no rear brake. There appears to be sufficient clearance remaining to easily accommodate up to 700x32c tires, perhaps even 700x35c.

They're new, so I hadn't gotten that far yet, thought I'd ask around.
I'll throw some grease on them and report back.

Never grease them! it will clog up the spring mechanisms

few drops of chain lube okay? I'll try that this evening.
I was going to swap the cleats to opposite sides as well so I can see if its just a problem with that specific cleat, or that pedal.

Chain lube is actually really good. Other than that, idk what to recommend that doesnt involve buying new parts.

lubed up the parts, and kept changing things around while riding rollers.
turns out the pedal wasn't installed tightly enough into the crankarm (my mistake). I removed it, greased the threads, and put it back on and things were fine.

I appreciate the input.

Anybody got recommendations on helmets that don't look awful? Had a few close calls lately, I think I should wear one.

I just picked up a UVEX Race 3 when Nashbar had it on sale for $80. It's doesn't make my head look too stupid, is lightweight and offers good ventilation.

I've always wanted an Air Attack shield so I can look like a fighter pilot, but really have no reason other than that

I rock a Catlike Kompact'o road

Cheaper than a Whisper, but still light with good ventilation.

I need a new cog, but I'm having trouble deciding what to get. So i have a 1/8 chain, and I know I'm looking for a 16t cog. However, as I'm looking at deals on ebay, I'm wondering whether to get Dura-Ace or another brand (like Soma). However, all of the Dura-Ace cogs come only in 3/32. Should I just shoot for the Dura-Ace thats 3/32, or shoot for the Soma thats 1/8? They are both the same price.
Thanks!

If you have a 1/8th chain, get whatever. They'll both fit.
