^ You could buy shoes like the ones you linked to or if you haven't already opened them just return the pads and get the combined shoes/cartridge because they're usually dirt cheap.

^^Thanks TejanoTrackie, I do plan to take these wheels to the shop when I get around to it. The shop I trust the most to handle that sort of stuff is pretty far so I was just wondering if it would be an issue for regular riding, which it doesn't seem to be.

Mumonkan 04-24-15 04:13 AM

grab the shoes koolstop makes, i just replaced the same thing on one of my bikes. was only like $40 for the whole schpiel and now i have all these points of adjustment i didnt have before. plus those pads are only $7 to replace, great deal down the line

hardboiled718 and Mumonkan,

thanks a bunch for helping out - just grabbed a road pack from eBay, which hopefully will work out just fine.

Best way to get the Oury grips to stop moving?

I think I might jsut ditch them and get some lock on grips.

I just dab a small amount of Weldwood contact cement on the bar before installing them, which seems to keep them from moving.

Scrodzilla 04-25-15 11:13 AM

I always install them using WD40. Once it soaks into the rubber inside the grip, it's like they're glued on.

Zero mess and they feel welded in place.

Thanks guys, I took them off today and slid them back on and now the left one is stuck on pretty well but the right is still lose near the end. I might try some wd-40 since I have that readily available.

We'll keep them for a bit before switching to the lock on ones.

hairspray. dries overnight and acts as an adhesive.
or use esi grips...!

veganbikes 04-26-15 08:39 PM

We use hairspray in the shop. Though lock-ons are so much more better especially the Ergon or Mano grips a nice relaxed grip is way more comfy plus give you better blood flow.

Anyone awake and bored and want to help me troubleshoot a sealed hub wheel issue I'm having?

I'm sleeping.

TejanoTrackie 04-29-15 08:28 AM

I'm awake, but I'm not bored.

SpeshulEd 05-21-15 04:40 PM

Windsor Hour peeps, what size tires are you running? I'm wondering if I could fit a 32 or bigger on mine? I'm not running fenders or anything.

If I did a wider tire, I'd probably have to get new wheels too, huh?

I always used spray deoderant back in the day. Worked great.

SpeshulEd 05-21-15 09:38 PM

For what its worth, the grips are now on super tight, all set with those.

And I did some searching and found where someone put 28s on their hour.

Scrodzilla 05-21-15 09:39 PM

You could always measure.

There's always that. Actually, I will probably will do that this weekend, I was just looking at bike parts today while I was at work and was being impatient.

Probably overthinking this but just curious...

I took off my chain to clean and remove a few links, when putting it back together the pin must have gotten squeezed and came through with a really sharp burr. It's connected and works fine so I'm not going to change it, but just wondering has anyone else experienced this? It's the first time I've connected a chain and had this happen.

If it helps I'm using an Izumi standard chain, it's about a year old and fairly stretched. Thinking maybe between the stretch and not connecting the original links caused some unevenness?

Just replace it.

Scrodzilla 06-19-15 08:29 AM

The age of a chain is measured in miles, not years.

But yeah, just replace it.

scrod ... friend of mine is offering his viner 80s track bike + $100 cash for my landshark time shark. yay or nay

Scrodzilla 06-19-15 12:42 PM

Why is this a question for me? Do you think it's a good deal?

edit: I just saw the pic of your Landshark in the 'Today I' thread. Get rid of that wonky thing.
