I have question to though. Are there any durability issues or any thing like that running a ss with a spacer kit compared to a dedicated ss hub? Im a newb. :)

Not unless you're an absolute animal. But maybe you are.

Pfft, only 2 months. So not nearly long enough to know how durable they are. So far they seem to be doing well though.

I'm far from an animal when it comes to bike riding. After talking to my LBS I'm quite interested in the Raleigh Furley, which comes stock with a spacer kit. Wasn't sure if I rode it as a ss for long term if it'd run into issues down the road.

How much is a fair price for a lightly used Super Pista frameset?

GENESTARWIND 02-06-14 06:22 PM

Why is it ok to shill bikes direct but any other bike company shill gets shot down, like state for instance.

Even the low end bikes don't have allot of the issues bd bikes do. I dont get it

GuitarBob 02-06-14 06:26 PM

Because recommending does not equal shilling.

GENESTARWIND 02-06-14 06:30 PM

Even when recommending a lesser quality bd bike over another which also happens on a regular basis?

Around here if it's anything other than Bikesdirect or Retrogrssion it is...

I dont understand this term "shilling" I would love that explained to me. Also, I just bought a fixed gear bicycle and I have a question regarding flat tubes. A mile after I rode away from the shop I got a pinch flat, oops, went back and made the decision to upgrade the tires to gatorskins! WOOHOO, I know they don't protect against pinch flats, but guess what, one mile leaving the second time, BOTH went flat at the same ****ing time. Okay, now im flacid - my new bike ***** is gone, depression swings in and i don't even want to ride my brand new beautiful state bicycle.

The shop owner says that my wheels are not compatible for the thorn resistant tires that I had on my old bicycle (the new tires are 700x23c)

1. Why are they not compatible with Deep V's?
2. What are my options for creating a flat resistant setup?

A flat resistant setup is a must for me, its my car, its my child, its my everything, and to have 4 flats in 24 hours is just, not acceptable.

A pinch flat is from running too low of pressure in your tires causing them to hit a bump and press against the rim causing (usually) two small slits on the underside of your tube.

My question for you is A) How much do you weigh and B) what PSI are you running your tires at and I guess C) Are you doing sweet bar spins and curb jumps?

GENESTARWIND 02-07-14 12:31 AM

you need to run higher tire pressure and find a new shop because that guy sounds like an idiot.

And/or the rims need to be checked for burrs. Also, ensure the rim tape has been applied properly.

I weigh 160lbs, Not sure the PSI but over 100, and no tricks,

The guy at the shop checked? because he was the one that replaced that replaced the first 3 tubes

I find it hard to believe that I would need to run higher pressure

I have no idea if your mechanic checked. I'd ask him, not me.

No, i was saying he did check, but someone else was doggin on my mechanic. I rode about 65 miles today with no issues, higher pressure seemed to be what I needed, thanks guys!

GENESTARWIND 02-09-14 04:13 AM

why is prolly such a tool?

Scrodzilla 02-09-14 10:20 AM

Haha! I just looked at his site the other day after asking myself, "Do people even still care about John Prolly?"

JamesCraps 02-12-14 07:37 PM

Can you fit a 28mm front tire with the Leader i805TR fork?

Scrodzilla 02-12-14 08:06 PM

Yes.

I need an indoor trainer that will fit my fixed gear frame, no rollers.

Would something like a Kinetic by Road Machine work? It seems pricey but I need something with resistance adjustment since I obviously can't just change gears to add more to my work out.

Thanks in advance.

Steev 02-21-14 07:48 AM

There are cheaper trainers with adjustable resistance. Your bike should fit on almost any trainer.

Scrodzilla 02-21-14 10:31 AM

Ive got a Tacx Blue Matic that does the trick.

Too lazy to search, so I'm here.
Recommend me a floor pump? Someone stole mine a while ago, and I've been borrowing a friend's from down the hall since then, but I should probably get my own again.

Cheap is good.

Miche 1/8" sprocket

Hello all,

New poster, though long-time lurker.

I have just received a new Miche 1/8" Track Sprocket. It has lines and scratches all over it, please see photo. Will this affect the performance, or wear my chain down quickly? Should I return it to the shop, or am I just asking too much of a botton-of-the-range sprocket?

The actual teeth are OK.

Thanks in advance for any advice!
