Fuji Track Pro......$650.

Sure beats an old fatigued-out classic steel frame. Thank you very much for the congratulations. I deserve this bike.

I'm not into old steel stuff that's long past it's prime. I'd would haven taken this or a Pista concept. Museum pieces/antiques are for old men.

Besides I laugh at them when I see some ancient steel flex frame equipped with super stiff Deep Vs and straight guage spokes. Uhmmmmm.....that's just plain silly.

I'm not a big fan of the way those Pros look but its a decent bike for track racing at a really good price (aren't they a grand plus normally?) So you get props for your purchasing skills and cause you now have a really good crank set.

But I've seen plenty of folks get severly beat on the track by fools riding 'fatigued-out classic steel' frames. A stiff light frame only helps so much.

Enjoy your ride.

it's all preference (obviously). Don't forget that preference is the reason you chose that bicycle. Isn't it? Congrats on the new ride!!

That's a great price. Nice score. It only lists 56cm sized frames and I always pictured you to be like 7 feet tall, maybe 7'2" while wearing the shiny red boots that go with your superhero costume.

Aren't you way into stiffness?

I mean, I like a nice stiffy once in a while, but I don't talk about it all the time.

Congrats! You scored a decent deal.

Awesome! Congratulations on the new bike. Now we can finally show you up/see if you live up to your trash talk on a level playing field. Which velodrome is closest to you?

You can take that stiff bike and ride it all the way to hell. I can't imagine a worse choice as far as track bikes go. I bet you won't even be riding it on the track either. I bet you're going to be riding that thing between your dorm room and the dining hall.

Men are so stupid!

Bikes: Giant OCR1(specialized carbon seatpost,Terry Fly sadle, Syntace C2): Leader TT frame, Easton EC70fork, Aerolite bars, nashbar bullhorn, Titan Wheels: Fuji Track Pro(2003)

I picked up the other 61cm(it is a 2003 model).

I believe 53-11 is in the Bay Area, so if he brings it out to Hellyer, there might be a couple of matching 61cm Fuji Track Pro bikes there...though his engine is definately better than mine..

Hopefully Dolface can bring his NJS beauty out to the track some day that 53-11 shows up.....I would probably pay to watch that race...

Fatigued-out? Steel has a fatigue limit - which if your stress is under that limit, it will NEVER break - no matter how many times the load is placed upon it.

Sadly, aluminum does NOT have a fatigue limit and will eventually fail no matter how small that load is.

Take a look at the wikipedia entry on Engineering Use of Aluminum.

Key points: Al is 2/3rd less stiff than steel. To combat this you can either increase tubing wall thickness or increase the diameter of the tubing. Increasing the tubing wall thickness increases the weight. And funny enough, with the same diameter tubing - you have to increase wall thickness by 3 - almost exactly nullifying the weight benefit of using aluminum. TANSTAAFL.

Instead, bicycle manufacturers increase wall diameter. That's why all aluminum bikes have Don-Walker-sized downtubes (ha!) with gigantic ST/TT/SS/CS to compliment. The downside to this is now your large diameter tubing is more suseptible to crippling/denting/cyclic failure.

So yeah, aluminum ain't all that. But uhhh....that is a good price on that bike.

I'm sure it's nice on the track, but I would never ride an aluminum frame on the streets... hurts too much. One of the reason I never rode my road bike on the streets is because its too stiff and I felt every little pebble and bump in the road. My skinny ass can't handle that kind of abuse so it's good 'ol steel for me.

I agree. I think some national championships have been won on this bike. If I weren't into all things custom, that's one of the frames I would consider riding.

As regards to the other comments:

Who cares if he rides it on the street or on the track.

How many of you riding around on NJS Keirin bikes have ever ridden in a Keirin race in Japan?

And how many national championships have been won by those of you riding on all steel frames?

Don't hate on Fuji.

And don't hate on 53-11. He's now got a decent track bike for a damn good price.

Agreed. I had that frame and I loved it except for the integrated headset. I like aluminum and I only hate 53-11 because he paid a lot less than I did for the same bike.

i hope you all realize that the bulk of the antagonism in this thread is due to the fact that this 53_11 **** is always a total, well, **** **** , in every other thread.

You can't swing a cat at T-town without hitting a few of those fuji pros.

Lots of people think they're a good deal at the normal price.
