Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

And how many dozens of formula/basic/etc hubs that have stripped? A few failed high end components does not reflect upon the overall quality of the whole line/brand. Hell, even my White Ind hub stripped. Have I lost any faith in the quality of their products? Not one bit.

It is user error almost every single time a hub fails right off the bat even the cheap juky crap. The average person on this forum probably isn't qualified or fully knowledgeable enough to really do what they do to their bike, I'm not saying they shouldn't but just because they fuk up (and I know I have) doesn't mean that it's the part manufacturer to blame.

I will leave someone else to bring up the wonderful world of statistics and anecdotes heard on the internet.

Did you use a torque wrench? Maybe you are stronger than you think.

Well, I've known one person who's popped the lockring off on a suzue, but that guy was a brute, and the lockring/cog wasn't installed properly anyways.

I used one of the cheapy suzue hubsets for quite some time ('bout 18 months commuting / racing) before the rim on the rear blew up (mavic MA3). Never had much of a problem with the hub, other than having to rebuild/repack it during the winter to keep the salt/slush from turning the races into mush.

I also used the suzue on a beer hauling bike. Bent the axle every now and then, but nothing a hammer couldn't fix.

Time for some Crazy Horse.
