Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

First Fixed Ride

All i can say is wow....
So amazing.
I just got finished building my first fixed ride up. It's about as ghetto as you can get, an old Peugeot frame that is waay to small, heavy steel 27in. wheels, bumbike suicide hub, front brake, and too high of a gear ratio, but man is that feeling amazing.

I rode out of my driveway, dropped the hammer and.....silence. So fast, so connected, so quiet.

I'm here for good. I realize this post is probably worthless, but I am so amped right now. I think I'm going to order a Pista tommorrow, or maybe just ride this POS for bit to get used to the feeling of fixed. Anyways, now I finally understand what you all have been talking about for so long.

Welcome.

My 1971 taiwanese schwinn fixed gear puts a smile on my face every time I ride it.

Consider this ride your "boot camp", so to graduate to the real and nicer thing.

Next thing will be a nice Pista, Rush Hour, Iro, Soma, or whatever I will be willing and able to afford.
