Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: too many too list

The guy who designed it is John Consolati...a good friend of mine. The guy who made it happen is Johnny Jet Fuel...owner of Jet-Fuel Coffee Shop here in Toronto. They came up with the idea...had John who is an architect do the drawing...and shmoozed Dunhill Tobacco to put up the $. The cost to do this was crazy...something like 100k each time it was put up, mostly insurance. When the HPR went to Vancouver we had to put in some (tons) extra support to make it earthquake proof...so the inspectors would give the green light. The original design was made to fit in a hockey rink but needed to be tweaked to fit. The one banking became steeper than the other so it was decided to run clockwise to make the steeper banking the down side. It was a complete blast to ride. What remains of the HPR is stored in a shipping container (the whole shebangabang fit in a 40ft container) in rural Ontario. The structure is still all there but Johnny used the plywood from the surface to put a 2nd story on his houseboat. The structure was built from heavy duty wood I-beams. The only thing stopping it from happening is a serious sponsor to put up the $$.

I believe it was that one.
Man...all we needed was a whole lot of foamcore and a box of x-acto blades! Too bad our budget ran out.
