Whoa, floodgates. I guess I know what you guys are listening to now.
Of all the bands mentioned above, I know only Clikatat Ikatowi, daughters and an albatross, none of whom I really get into, though daughters or AA is the kind of thing I'd occasionally throw on for kicks. And don't ask me how I make a distinction between those bands and say Arab on Radar, Locust (whom I'm not against, I just don't get rabid about) and Some Girls (who I get rabid about). Mohinder I checked out a few months ago because of some of you and this thread; not really my thing.
Thanks for all the suggestions!
Btw, I'm down for mixtape trading - anyone actually ever set up one of those trees that work like a chainletter - you send something out to 5 people on a list, add your name, and in a months you get 300 pairs of underwear in the mail? My buddy in Philly tried to get one going and it never actually happened.
The idea being: make a mixtape for someone you don't know. Whatever you want. Be funny, be obscure, be earnest, just throw on the last 15 songs you listened to, whatever. I think maybe only the uberhipsters might be into it though; how many people here are to the degree that if you got a mix with like Neu, Oscar the Grouch, Siege, Betty Harris and Dead Voices On Air you'd be all, yawn, I thought this was supposed to introduce me to new music?
Could be really easy with the 3rd party upload service... could move it onto the last.fm board...

the last time i was supposed to see Ten Grand was at ABC NO RIO and the show got shut down right before they played. i was super bummed, even more so later.
a light in the attic and takaru were both great, as was quest for quintanna roo. Burial Year (most of takaru and danthrax and now josh from bullets*in) are pretty good too. i've set up a few shows for them and we've played with them a few times, another coming up in april for those of you in NYC.
also, i put out the Takaru/This Ship Will Sink/Assistant split cd if anyone wants a copy of wants to trade or something

takaru is such a great band. i love how they have a book distro! they stayed at my house a few years ago.
man, i love arab on radar. so many people hate them though. i saw them three times and each was magic. another hardcore band i love that many seem to hate is racebannon. they are one of my all time favorites as well. both of those bands are so unique sounding, which i love.

yeah, it's their final song. 8 minutes and it rules. it was originally supposed to be a split with circle takes the square, then turn around norman, and TSWS and Takaru were gonna do a split but when the other stuff fell through we just decided to put the Assistant song on that split too.

It was a sad day when I had to retire that shirt, but it had turned into nothing more than a life support system for the silkscreening.
