yeah, black cat #13 is sort of hardcore, but not really. super synthy and rad. they broke up and each half went to femme fatale and the sick lipstick. someone told me that one of the guys from dfa 1979 was in femme fatale, but i'm not sure about that.

those masks are terrifyingly hilarious. i want one. they have that 7", two other 7"s and one 12". if you come across another 7" of theirs with two women's faces on it, one with red and one with blue hair, pick it up. you'll like it. the other 7" and the 12" have remixes that are decent, but sort of boring.

exactly. the remix stuff is easily forgettable. but those two 7"s are soo good.

the title of oh no the modulator makes me think of that joan of arc song about "oh no, here comes tornado" or whatever... that one on that bundi brown 12" split. there's a rendition of that song on sam zurich's solo album too. that song makes me laugh so much. i get it stuck in my head all the time.

haha, yeah. i love joa because all the little minor things get stuck in your head forever for no real reason then you hear it pop up again in one of their other incarnations.
"do the stand on one foot dance to the radio rodeo" always gets in my head and i don't think i have even listened to that song more than twice since i got it.

Lindsay is currently in a band called Fox The Boombox.

Black Cat #13 was Mark, Jesse, Lindsay and Robin.

After BC13 broke up, Mark and Lindsay started Sick Lipstick with a guy named Aiden and a guy named Allan, and Jesse started Femme Fatale as a one-man-band type deal. Robin played in the live version of Femme Fatale alongside a dude named Sebastian, who also played drums on some ofthe later Femme Fatale recordings. Jesse and Sebastien started Death From Above, which later became Death From Above 1979.

Aiden does solo stuff as Oh No The Modulator! and also plays in a band called Germans with a bunch of other dudes, including a dude named Leon who plays drums in Final Fantasy and I think works at the recording studio that DFA79 built in toronto with a guy named Al who recorded all of the sick lipstick stuff. Aiden once appeared on an episode of the david letterman show doing stupid human tricks - Natalie Portman said he was cute and asked him out on a date. He had a girlfriend at the time and declined. He has a degree in astrophysics, but is a professional busker. Rad dude.

Mark has a new band called Nervous Sleepers and is running a label that only puts out 3" CD-Rs.

Robin went on to become a MAC cosmetics salesperson, although I have no idea what she's up to now.

I'm pretty sure that the two 12"s are all that Femme Fatale ever put out... they may've been released as one CD, but I could also be making that up. There definitely is a CD, but I'm not sure if it's a different record or the two 12"s. Fox the Boombox is really different from the other bands that lindsay has been in. I think they use a lot of toy instruments, that sort of thing. A little more performance-y, if that makes sense.

One of the other guys who played in the live version of Femme Fatale (Scott, I think?) plays in this band called The Meligrove Band who are about to release (or have just released) their first record on V2. They're a full on pop band.

Jesse and Seb from DFA79 have a remix-y, house/electro thing going on called MSTRKRFT. It's very much not my thing, but some people seem to like it. You can watch a video of theirs in which models get bukkake'd with strawberry milkshakes here.

And yeah, I'm from Canada... Halifax, represent.

my friend caught the pogues in NYC yesterday with the slackers opening. what a ****ing show.

he said shane was out of his mind as usual, even sieg heiling the crowd a few times. he is pretty sure the man doesn't have a tooth left in his skull.

the only thing I have that I've heard referred to as power violence is old Man Is the Bastard... and that can't be what we're talking about.

Thursday was the first 'emo' band to do the yelling/screaming vocals in a decent/not-completely-****ty-sounding way. Some wouldnt call them emo though because every has their own definition and its an argument that will never end. Some people say glass jaw is what emo really is. some say it isnt emo. some dont give a ****, like me!
