Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Bikes: '06 Vanilla touring, '09 Vanilla cx, Zanconato cx, Moots Psychlo-X RSL prototype, Nagasawa track, Kalavinka track, Black Cat 29er, Cannondale Rize 2 26er, Serotta CRL Legend

A lot lower than the 8% per year they're asking for...

Bikes: heh, like that info would fit here...

Following a concert recently I gave my date a ride to transit on the back of my heavy bike (has a huge Jandd Expedition rack.) Thousands of folks walking the same direction started offering money (it's over a mile from the stadium to the trains.) After dropping her off, I went back and picked up folks for 5 bucks a pop (plus tips.) Y'all in the city should definitely put some pegs/racks on and make some extra cash.

They're still jawing at each other, and I'm still working. Yes, I'm bitter.

we've had two transit strikes here in vancouver since i've been a messenger and i must say that i didn't really notice too much of a change. maybe things slow down a bit, but not really so's you'd notice.

Manhattan Bridge is the way to go. No one knows where to get on or off. Not even the cop I once asked...

TA should be having a field day.

Apparently, a lot of guys haven't even shown up for work. Cavalry Couriers asked me if I could go out and ride for a bit. If you want to pick up some work, call them.

Pretty slow day at work today. If it's the case tomorrow, maybe I'll give them a shout.

It's not like 8 percent is too much to ask for when taking into account cost of living increases coupled on top of inflation. It's about pension anyway.

An imperialist is an advocate of imperialism, so if Wangster was suggesting that NYC should extend it's sphere of influence into, say New Jersey, then he'd be an imperialist. Not supporting raises for transit workers is not imperialism.

As far as NYC extending its sphere of influence into New Jersey, it's too late. Already happened.
As far as me giving a poor example as to why Wangster is an imperialist, I'm just a moron.
But he is. Trust me. Wangster is an imperialist.
What this has to do with riding a fixed gear or single speed is negligible.

First of all, it was a joke. Wangster is my dog. I disagree with him on his point, however.

Secondly, to me (but not on a technical level) capitalism goes hand and hand with imperialism, and imperialism generally entails the exploitation of a group at the hands of an oppressor, therefore I extended the tag of imperialist to Wangster. Knifefight knew what I meant.

Do you grade AP tests or something?

Bikes: track and road

I've been out there from 9:30 till 8:30. very busy, all those weekend cyclists, couple of them almost hit me. looking at them struggle up the bridge was fun. i climbed much faster then usually to make them look like they are standing still. some other guy raced me on manhattan bridge on the way home. that was fun.

Yes, yes I AM an Imperialist and damn proud of it. I long to be an oppressor and enslave all of mankind! mua hahahahahahaha!!! wait, that just makes me a dictator... damn!

ELC was joking, he cool, knifefight on the other hand needs a facepunch. He's just jealous cuz I beat him at the Rico Race...or is the other way around? Doesn't matter... knifefight needs a facepunch anyways... while I'm at it, so does ELC and all enemy of imperialists.

To answer the original question... A large company that I used to work for, and some of you probably work for now, that usually does 1600-1900 runs a day, pulled about 1000 today. So yeah, it's slowed down some.

I think "schooled" is an overstatement; we technically tied. He won by virtue of, using his words: a technicality.
What else... Wangster and I go back. We occasionally get into some turkey burger level beef, this didn't even get past a garden burger.
Thank you ELC for articulating the capitalist/imperialist correlation. My AP review days are long gone-- I'm now focussed on riding my bike for a medium sized messenger company that gets no business when there's a transit strike. Meet me for a cup of coffee and hopefully not a punch in the face.
