Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? if someone isn't making fun of someone else...why bother reading this thread. maybe that's why the usual culprits haven't chimed in yet, they're busy thinking up new insults.

The week commute = ~75 mi.
errands, fun, weekend = ~ 10-30 ??
(If) long ride on weekend to Nyack or something = ~90 (admittedly hasn't been happening for the past many months... gotta start doing that again!)

Therefore, we're looking at a rough total of about 90 mi/week without the long ride and 180mi with.

I commute 27 miles round trip per day.
Yesterday, I had to come to work twice and had a 54 mile day.
A record for me.

Bikes: surly steamroller, independent fabrication titanium club racer, iro jamie roy--44/16, independent fabrication steel crown jewel--47/17, surly karate. monkey (rohloff speed hub), unicycle

weather here lately is ****ty and i'm a fairweather rider (i don't mind cold, but i don't do wet--but a hardcore biker chick told me that if i just say i don't have fenders it's all forgiven) so my commute and errands lately have added up to around 60-70 miles a week.

23 miles round trip commute about three times a week lately.

my commuting is 25 miles a week. if there's good weather on the weekends--and there has not been, sigh-- i'll put in another twenty to forty.

**** the winter, seriously.

Bikes: Villin custom touring, Medici Pro Pista, KHS Alite1000, Windsor fixed commuter

During the semester I'm up to around 130-160, depending how big the Saturday ride is. About 1/3 ended up being fixed towards the end.

Planning on doing the Gainesville Brevet Series this year and am awfully tempted to do the 200k on the singlespeed.

Adventures...

I guess I average 90-120 miles in a week commuting, depending where I'm staying or where I have to work.

hi, i'm bob. longtime reader, first-time poster. thought i'd pop the cherry with something simple, kinda work my way into the fold nice and easylike.

now that i've got the formalities out of the way, i'd say i do about 100 a week depending on weather. cold doesn't bother me, i'll walk into work with snot icicles hanging from my mask and beard, but black ice scares the **** out of me.

About 76 miles a week commuting. More if I have time to play! Richmond's not that bad with the exception of broad street towards the westend. Nothing worse than oblivious soccer moms on cell phones....good times.
