1 fix used for going just about everywhere all the time
1 road used for long road rides with fellow roadie friends up and down big hills in berkeley 1 MTB barely used these days (unfortunately) 1 BMX my former cross-town commuter, a position replaced by my fixie, but it's still a blast to ride around for short rides, and as the cheapest bike i own, i'm least worried about it being stolen/molested when i lock it up these bikes were accumulated at the rate of about one a year and i have no plans to add any more to my stable at this time |
1 chopper
1 fixed conversion 1 about to be fixed conversion 1 60's era geared bike with a stickshift like a car I just got the geared one and need to put it into working condition. The chopper gets used in every season but winter. The first fixed is my main bike, and the new conversion will be my winter/inclement weather bike. |
2 fixed, a third will be on the way
|
I now own three. I just sold a singlespeed/fixed conversion.
fixed road commuter The commuter has been getting the most love lately because it's now the only full fendered machine I own. The road bike needs some work (needs a powdercoat job. and some drivetrain help), and that will be my next project since the fixed and commuter are finally tweaked to my satisfaction*. I will probably eventually either cobble together a "modern" road bike (I've never owned a non-steel bike or one with brifters) or do a vintage conversion (British path racer or Major Taylor-style) after that. *for now anyway |
1 fixed conversion
1 geared MTB MTB has been degraded to spare bike status since the fixie arrived, but will see more action on tours or climbing a hill or two. |
4 that are rideable, a few frames and plenty of spares.
|
2 fixed
1 XC race bike 1 road racer 1 old peugot frame 1 dh frame, 2 xc frame, 1 muscle bike(with SA stickshift)- wheels 1 bmx- cranks and a *****load of parts |

Oh, and I've got 4 and a half, but when the 5th is built I'll sell one. 4 is plenty for me. They all serve different purposes, and they all get ridden, but I don't currently have 5 distinct purposes. |
1 conversion
1 track 1 mtb 1 cruiser 2 frames tons of wheels |
1 steamcoaster
2 cruisers 1 mtb/commuter 1 ultimate wheel pile o' parts including a 20" wheel folder that needs new everything |
1 mtb
|
Singlespeed urban mtn. bike
fixed gear peugeot conversion singlspeed gitane conversion (xmas present for my little brother) geared klein road bike also have three more frames kicking around awaiting builds. Probalby going to buy a pista after christmas so i can do some track racing this spring/ summer. I've realized that i'm hopelessly addicted to building/ collecting bikes, as well as riding them. Oh well, better than being addicted to drugs i guess. |
In the past I have limited myself to two. If I get a new bike I force myself to get rid of an old one. I don't know. I feel like I might break that promise to myself though. I am itching for another bike and really don't want to part with either of the ones I have.
1 trackesque (IRO mark V pro) 1 road bike (Bianchi Giro 2004) |
I have way too many bikes and I still want more. To justify annother track frame i'm selling 3 of my least favorite. 2 fixed gear and 1 bmx cruiser.
|
1 geared road
1 single/geared mtn bike 5 fixed (two are conversions) All get ridden, some more than others. |
Well, I haven't done an audit in a while, so here goes:
Currently own: 1 fast/comfy Masi road conversion fixie...probably about 125 miles/week 1 faster Parkpre road conversion fixie. 20 miles/month. For sale soon 1 fixed junk dahon folder. 5 miles/week. For sale soon 1 fixed Friday folder. (arriving in two weeks!) 1 older Masi Nuova Strada w/ full orig. DA kit. Spring/Summer only-200 miles/month 1 21 spd b-stone MB-1 w/ slicks, hitches, rack for tour/cargo/hauling. 75 Miles/week 1 24 spd b-stone MB-4 w/ cargo setup. Not currently riding. For sale soon. 1 24 spd Bianchi light tourer. Not riding. For sale soon. 1 14 spd b-stone RB-2. Not riding. For sale soon. 1 21 spd HPM long-haul cargo bike for heavy loads. 50 miles/week 1 'fixed' unicycle. Out of practice. 1 old rusty single speed cruiser. 10 miles/month In the works (I'm doing the planning and financial work on): 1 Mikkelsen 'track' w/ slightly relaxed geometry for fast road rides. 1 Richard Sachs roadie Okay, that's not as bad as I thought...though there may be one or two I'm forgetting. |
[QUOTE=isotopesope]this is pretty much all of the running bikes between scott and me...
i have got to see more photos of the bianchi, groundup (especially), and gios. what a stash...and that treviso, i've got that same bike sitting in my room, with the same awesome 80's fade job  so for me... 1 track (bareknuckle) 1 fixed conversion (miyata road frame rain bike, full fenders, risers) 2 road frames (cannondale/pinnarello) 3 beater frames truck load of parts, garbage to beautiful |
2 fixed (commuter and speedy)
1 half-assed conversion I'm trying to get rid of 1 trashy geared MTB 1 SS/geared MTB due on thursday -------------------------------------------- 5. All but the trashy geared MTB acquired this year. This is my second year of being an adult, and it is awesome. :) |
3 fixed
1 road 1 mtb 1 folding (soon to be fixed) And a unbuilt track frame. |
1 Road
1 MTB 1 Fixed Road 1 Fixed/SS MTB Did pretty good for a couple of years with just the geared mtb. I would swap out the knobbies for slicks and wind it up on the road. Road frame was bought 5 years ago and down the slippery slope I went. Instead of buying bikes I try to slowly upgraded the components. |
2 fixed
1 mtb 1 bmx 1 custom chopper (not finished) |
two and a frame...i really need more, just to have them.
fixed conversion (always an ongoing project) road bike (i really want it to go away and become a track bike) and a grocery getter with a tacoed wheel that i want to be a coaster brake bike soon as i can get new wheels. i think my simultaneous love and dissatisfaction (always something that can be improved) will lead to a lot of money being spent and, eventually, a large stable. a number of project bikes have already passed through my hands simply because they weren't worth the extensive expense and time to me. like a fixed conversion with a schwinn varsity...nah...it was ugly and weighed half a ton. |
so, have we learned enough about everyone today to form new judgments about them? the most, biggest, best, shiniest...
by this here statement, i assert my internet identity! sorry, i'm a little grumpy today. |
i have two
1.) a vintage marinoni track with all the bells and whistles, and 2.) a surly crosscheck with what it needs and not much more. ...and i'm very seriously considering getting rid of my track bike. it's fast, beautiful, and fun...but man are they silly. so impractical. owning just one should be a goal for all of us. |
