Fixed Gear in Russia

I first and unique who ride on this bicycle.
I wrote about Fixed Gear Bikes at a forum.
All against. Nobody has understood for what these bicycles are necessary.

Second Forum

They write: "Vova, you are crazy, sick. It is silly idea, it is unnecessary anybody."
But I'm ride on Fixed Gear Bike and I'm love it. It's a best bike in my life. It not a track bike, it altered mountain bike.
Because in Russia track bicycles are not on sale.

Fotos of my Bike
It's a first Fixed Gear Bike (on city streets, not on a velodrome) in Russia.

Sorry for my English.

Cool. Welcome, Vova, and congratulations on pissing of an entire continent.

All against? Sweet!

Keep us posted, maybe we should invade Russia, and tear through the streets drunk of vodka...

Welcome! I spent a few weeks in Moscow (and a few more in the Khabarovsk region). I cannot imagine riding in all that Moscow traffic!

We love your city. Stay safe!

A friend of a friend from Moscow told a story about how he hit a pedestrian. He chased the victim down to try to get some money to repair the damage his body did when it bounced off his hood;)

Be safe. You'd think there'd be some track frames available in Moscow... Perhaps try Krylatskoye (sp?)?

This is the best post ever.

Glad you like your bike man. You can always hang out here and learn about pie and stash pockets.

Vova 12-30-05 11:07 AM

i like that bike....your set up is pretty cool too. I'm digging the cross lever with the blade facing inwards, and those cranks looks pretty neat too.

spud 12-30-05 11:11 AM

Vova 12-30-05 11:17 AM

As I was working on a conversion for a friend, another friend from Kazakhstan walked into the room. She asked what I was doing, which was a reasonable question seeing as how I had parts thrown all over living the room. After explaining to her what I was doing, and why fixed gear bikes are the shiznit, she replied, "Oh, so you're building a Soviet bike! Why would you want to do that?!"

Funny. But it's Kazakhstan, it's not Russia.

/\ heh, the thought had indeed crossed my mind, too.

i feel a little leery of it since it's russian, but that's only because of guitar playing friends who bought sovtek amps (which were made in the now-defunct--and i hope we all knew that--u.s.s.r., as opposed to contemporary russia) and had scads of problems, including having to buy harder to find russian parts when things went wrong.

i guess this is a waaaaaay different ballgame, and that sure looks nice (it actually looks like those fuji track bikes). i think i should go look for product reviews.

humancongereel 12-30-05 02:20 PM

by the way, vova, that bike's pretty cool. there's a previously unwanted mountain bike frame laying around here that i may do something with now...

I do not know precisely.
But it's expensive.

Vova 12-30-05 03:02 PM

humancongereel, sorry, but i don't understand what you have written.
I badly know English language.
Please, write easier.
Please, do not use slang, it is difficult for translating.

humancongereel 12-30-05 03:16 PM

oh, sorry. i like your bike. i want to do the same thing now.

No, I have not. Yet.
It not the main thing.
I wish to tell to you about my situation. Thanks for your answers. It is very important for me.
And I try to find adherents in Moscow. But it's impossible.
