i always take the train into the city from new brunswick (same line you'll be on from philly) and the rules are pretty simple. you CANT take your bike with you when going WITH rushhour. so no bike going into the city in the morning or comming back at like 5-6pm. this shouldnt be a problem with monstertrack.

about Penn station: the key is to be a semi jerk. and a quick one at that. if you are really watching the board, and give a quick jog when the number comes up (this will be like 10-15 before departure time), you'll be one of the first people to the stairs and have no problem getting a spot for your bike.

your best bet when getting on the train is to look for the handicap logo on side of the car. the doors that have one either have a bike spot, or seats that fold that you can cram your bike into.

You would take either the Manhattan or Brooklyn Bridge, depending on where you are in Manhattan coming in. They both end up in essentially the same place on the Brooklyn side.

If the weather is nice, you'll have to deal with some tourist dodging on the Brooklyn Bridge (they are like cattle herds...slow and dumb). Also, the incline is a little steeper and longer coming from Manhattan to Brooklyn on the Brooklyn bridge. With that said, it's much more scenic. Better views.

don't take the train, take the chinatown bus. so much easier, so much cheaper, and it takes less time. this is by far the preferred method to travel between phila and nyc... even more so with your bike.
