Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

my biggest pet peeve is people who get lazy on a build and call it good enough. if you're gonna build an ugly bike, have that be the goal from the get go. if you're gonna build what you consider a nice bike, go all out and don't quit until the job's done.

people using an 80-100% njs keirin track bike for 80-100% of their riding.

or some fancy-pants full italian group vintage colnago for that matter.

"oops, a ding in the paint from locking up. it's cool, i can a order a whole new period-correct decal set and paint job for $78,000,000. up the trustfund messers!"

the endless track bike=hipster association. of the rides i know a quater actually are and the rest are just freaking bike dorks. hey...remember when bikes WERENT cool? like if you were caught on one you were called a bunch of sh...it just for not driving?

also.....unwrapped bars of any type on the street.....thats a GREAT way to break your colar bone

also the thought of more expensive+ good looking=must be tits in everyway possible.

also living in the bay area which means that because all forms of bikes are popular(which is great) the market is super jacked up.

also people oing half ass conversions....unwrapped road bars, no suicide hub just a chain with a buncha links snatched off and then replaced back onto the rusted(its always rusted) cassette.

also camo bar tape....i HATE THAT ISHT! actually.....i really love it and use it from time to time. it matches my uh.....night vision goggles and uh....my sniper rifle which is broked down into parts and lives in my uh...camo msgr bag....uh....

How can you ever see it? its always blending in with the surroundings, and i think it looks cool when someone rides by with just a stem and their hands in invisible drops.

bad drivers that attempt to intimidate me on the roads.

people that get all pissy about what sort of set up you have and where you
are 'sposed to ride it. that is: "no njs on the street", "must wrap track drops", "must unwrap track drops". please leave me and my bike alone. this is so prevalent on bike forums... if nitto is the most available brand of threaded drop stems and it happens to be NJS who the frick cares?

edit: i think i've just spent too much time on this forum reading *****y comments, it'll take years of de-programming to get the voices out of my head. do this, don't do that, that seat is too high, that seat is too low, wrap your bars, put a break on, deep v's suck, conversions suck...whatever! please get a ****ing life! the weather is getting better, my time is done here...

Alright my real pet peeve/bane of my existence is jake-braking truckers going north on i5. So if any of you guys are truckers and ever truck through the terwilliger curves, I am going to kick your teeth in, also just don't drive on it, cause it still is noisy, god I need to move.
