Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Meh I say.

You can ignore them pretty good 'round these parts, 'specially 'cause in the neighborhoods you don't see 'em, much.
But palm trees do have an extensive root system. They move out like a carpet and form a thick mat under the top soil if the weather conditions are favorable and a deep large primary root often wider than the circumfrance of the trunk which develops if the palm is located in a harsher, drier climate. And they're all along Dolores and in D-Park which, in my opinion, is rather neighborhoody and pretty cool.

Sorry, but I like the palm tree.

go a page back and see my photos. i live in florida and hate palm trees but i think that's just because i live in florida. when i go up north and see what i call "christmas trees" i think it's amazing but everyone else is sick of them. just goes to show that nobody appreciates the specialness of where they live.

In LA you can tell how bad a neighborhood you're in by the number of palm trees there are. A few plam trees, you're ok. A palm tree every ten feet, you're going to get shot.

I just realized that there are some pretty interesting views on my normal ride. I'll have to take pictures tomorrow if my girlfriend will let me borrow her camera.

Two Chicago memories come to mind with this photo:

1) How cold it was getting blasted by a 6' wall of water further down the path.
2) How I thought I would slide into the lake when that turn was a sheet of ice.

Well done.

Wow why didn't I read through this thread earlier. I don't take too many photos, but my area is definitely covered. Maybe I should take a picture of the cermak+state PJ's I pass everyday, or of the loop at 5pm.

I tend to disagree, with the summer part. When the christmas lights are up on a clear winter night, you could crap your pants in awe at the wonderfulness. I will pay someone to give me a fisheye/perspective shot of that next christmas.
