Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? Post Your Beausage.

So, we've all seen lots of pictures of all kinds of shiny new bikes. I'm getting a little tired of polished this and brand-new that. How about some beausage pictures? These aren't mine, but they speak volumes about my love for bikes, in ways that all of the studio-lit photos never can.

I have filthy DA cranks too, but not as bad as that poor bike. There is a difference between well-used and neglected!

This bike would be an excellent example of beausage, except it's pretty well concealed under the snow.

i've posted this in other threads already. the picture quality steals some of it, but it's pretty caked with mud.

You're kidding right Ira? That thing is practically spotless, hell I'd have to clean everything once a week to keep it looking like that. Damned rain!

Guilty as charged- I work in a bike shop with a cleaning station, so that's as bad as my bikes ever get. Even after a mucky mtb ride, I roll out spotless a half hour later.

The thing that really sucks about Chicago is not the water or dirt, but the excessive amount of salt applied after every snow. It disolves into your drivetrain and then turns to little abrasive crystals that foul everything up.

That's one thing I miss now that I'm not working at a shop, easy access to the solvent tank and the part washers, that'd get it absolutely spotless, not that I really used it that much cause it was in SUMMER, argh oh well.

edit: I really can't complain the only thing that can keep me from riding is just bad attitude about getting wet.

dudes your all missing the point thats dirt not beausage, beausage should be attractive wear on a bike. It's the patina and rust and worn leather. it's like the whole worn in jeans look. It's this pair of boots:
