Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Bikes: heh, like that info would fit here...

Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things

Cream colored ponies and crisp apple streudels
Doorbells and sleigh bells and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things

Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
Snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes
Silver white winters that melt into springs
These are a few of my favorite things

When the dog bites
When the bee stings
When I'm feeling sad
I simply remember my favorite things
And then I don't feel so bad

-flea markets, garage sales, free cool stuff on the side of the road.
-"obsolete" machines, esp. printing presses, typewriters
-collecting (see above)
-Vija Celmins because she's droll, wouldn't give a straight answer during what would have been stuffy artist interview yesterday, and her art rocks. "I grew up not knowing English...in Indianapolis."
-clever funny people (obvious, but there are a lot of people with the blank stare out there.)
-bikes, riding bikes

Bikes: I built the Bianchi track bike back up today.

Some of my favorites from today:

-My beard freezing to my fleece neckwarmer.
-Looks of disbelief from everyone when they asked 'You didn't ride your bike today, did you?'
-Getting to give my boss a ton of crap for wanting to get a ride two blocks to pick up his car.
-Lining up everything for the overtime work that I need to do this weekend, knowing that it's all going to get finished, and being able to leave work early tonight.
-A Sierra Nevada, a bottle of Bushmills and 3 documentries about dinosaurs to end the night.

1. Those nice sunny days where you get the end end of your ride and decide to take the long way home
2. Kicking as$ in the gym and going outside for a smoke at the end of my workout--warpred, i know, but almost nothing better than a smoke after a great workout
3. Drinking New Castle and listening to the bosstones while cleaning my apartment on spring day with the windows open and a warm breeze
4. riding up north where you can go for hours without seeing another human soul
5. my girlfriend asking me if my new "tires" came in after a crummy day of work (she'll never get it)
---

I need a sixth! checking BF at work after my boss chews me out

Bikes: 1983 Bianchi Eco Pista

No order:

- Girls talking to me and/or screaming hottie while I ride or do trackstands at lights.
- Meeting another Vegan who isn't a snob.
- Stitting at All Saint's (local cafe I frequent everyday) with my good friend Nathan.
- Free water after riding hard as hell in hot weather.
- Knowing that I don't have a car.
- Going so fast that I pass cars and they give me the "WTF" look.

and...

- Smoking while drinking coffee after a ride.
