You tell me, How does someone act when they are faking blindness, do they just lie to the people they are trying to fool, or just to a huge group of friends and family. I certainly have not ever (previously?) met anyone who has faked blindness.

If it is true then i think Torrin owes alot of people an appology, however, I think we may need to let this incident expose it self beyond a local newspaper and OP troll.
See there's that troll thing again, dangnabbit. I did not do anything except send you peeps a link to a story that has been all over the internet, this forum, and the local papers, all of which included "lucklust" as Torrin's nickname. Does the expression don't shoot the messaenger mean anything. Just because you disagree with the story, the DA's office, the UC opthamalogist, has nothing to do with me sending you a link to the story. One way or another, it is a an odd tale indeed and there is no sense in attacking me, the OP. Make your own decisions what to think about the incident. It is a free country, more or less.

And please enlighten me. Is there some period of time - a probationary period - before someone can post here before being accused of being a "troll" whatever that is. I am just a nice person who, as naive as it may be, likes to see justice done, one way or another.

Jesus, this forum sucks. And to Harryhood: "canoodle" is the best g*odamn word in all of foo. SO there.

And no, people who help others in the time of need are not dumbasses. Just good people, trying to do what was right.

Kinthy, if you knew the history you would understand why your sudden appearance is suspect. Previous trolls have behaved in a far too similar manner to your sudden appearance.

I still don't know what a troll is but at this point this thread has grown tiresome. I'm out.

maybe torrin really did lose his eyesight and it slowly came back. who knows? i'm sure there is much more to the story then we know.

when i had my accident i made a personal injury claim because i was required to submit the paper work quickly. at the time all i knew was that i couldn't walk without crutches and wasn't sure if i would have permanent damage. the insruance company took so long to get to the claim (3 months) that by the time i went to see their doctor (required before processing a claim like this) i was pretty much all healed up. he wrote a letter indicating that i was a perfectly healthy person and with that the insurance denied my claim.

from their point of view it must of looked like i made everything up to get money. even though i just did everything i thought was right. oh well.

i don't see any reason why there shouldn't be discussion about the news article. a lot of people here donated, helped out, and generally supported torrin. i'm glad that someone posted about the court case, regardless of whether trolling was involved. if he indeed lied, then, well, we should find out about it. if someone has conflicting information - post it.

Me too!

And how the heck do you get a seeing eye dog without being certifiably blind?
These things cost about 40k just to train!

the guy who swerved at torrin is obviously a ****ing cockbag for raging against him with an automobile, but i wouldn't blame the prosecution at all for dropping the case. had there been no dishonesty, the case probably would have been won.

* - the prosecution could have questioned the testimony of the opthomologist had torrin acknowledged that he went to the appointment and said that, despite the findings, the man is wrong. but, according to the news article posted, he denied that he even went, which a) is a lie, and b) looks strongly like an attempt to hide the fact that someone found him out.
Perhaps true. Hence the fatwa

Sohi whats up with that shiz

Since it seems like I am the only person around who remembers him, Torrin would never give up riding a bike for no good reason especially not to "fake" blindness. There is something fishy about this whole case and I hope WK can get on sometime soon and set some of you straight. There is no reason that Torrin would ever do this and that you would doubt one of our own people this much is incredibly dissapointing. Why don't some of you go back and look at some of his threads and the story behind his accident before rushing to judgement and calling him a liar and a fake. You all dissapoint me and some of you disgust me.

And if any of you have been following this story, Torrin's vision was improving steadily over the last year. he could barely ever type, couldn't ride and lost contact with alot of us dur to it. None of you seem to be asking yourself why he would fake this? There would be no reason. None to live this life like that and make those sacrifices. Hmm there was a initial hospital reports and some brain damage when he was admitted that affected his vision.
Do none of you have a search function in your BF page? If you do you should use it and get some background.

And for Christ's sake....its not like we cyclists ever get fair treatment by the courts. Next you a**holes might as well say that sydney just "fell" over as that truck passed or that brandi faked her own death in NY. Torrin was around long enough to know the pain we all feel when we lose one of our own and would never never do that.

some of you and your quickness to turn on our own make you worse than any driver that has ever hit us

A cooworker was tboned while driving her car. Some kind of swelling in the head affected her cognitive abilities enough to get long term disability. She was in last week to anounce that after a year and a half of no change, she is now showing measurable improvement. We are now expecting to see her back.

These things are beyond my comprehension, but maybe he was blind for a year but now he isn't.

Bikes: Custom Holland Ti road bike, Custom track bike I traded a painting for.

I know TORRIN and have seen him after the accident. all the mofos out there best believe he was blinded by that aggro driver, all his doctors have confirmed it. The only reason why that story is circulating is because that fat bastard wanted to get off the hook. Everyone best check their mouthes and ignorant comments. Why the eff would someone fake blind? Especially someone like Torrin who thrives on athletics. What makes me sick is not only the fact that this guy mowed him down but that he would go as far as lying about Torrin's injuries. He's definitely got it coming his way. The Universe has funny ways of balancing things out...

Somehow the guy will be run over by a cyclist who will blind him temporarily. Then he will walk off of a huge cliff. Just like the odoyle's in billy madison... without the mullets.

I can totally see this Arrigoni guy knowing the cut-rate journalist at the Marin Independent Journal, and scratching his back for this article so everyone doesn't think he is an attempted murderer. Other than that I do not know what to think and will not express my poorly developed opinions on the subject.

So you know all this as fact and not just opinion? Therefore you are an opthamologist and brain specialist also?
