Thank god for bikes.

Today is the only dry day we are forecast to have for the next several days. I really didn't feel that great, but forced myself to go out and ride my fixie. Within 1/2 block I was glad I did, and felt great! Got in a pretty good aimless ride today, rain coming tonight ... I have to commute in the rain, but seldom ride in it for pleasure.

Today was great though!

BTW, the thing I like the least about riding in the rain lately is that I feel like I should use my all-weather cross bike for it (with fenders & mudflaps & stuff). So the fixie tends to stay home on those days. I *much* prefer riding the fixie, but don't want to crap it up with fenders, so I save it for nicer weather.

Riding bikes rules cuse the commute to school is the equivalent to a double espresso and is a hell lot better for you.

In 1994, she was 26, he was 89. Holy ****. She is DEFINITELY a gold digger and she probably didn't love him AT ALL, and personally I don't think she should get any money at all. She was probably counting the days 'til he died, and I'm not surprised she didn't push him down the stairs or something (maybe she wasn't that stupid).

Not to go on a tangent, and I understand his point about Iraq and oil and all this but I just thought it was a bit extreme. Assuming that this guy even commutes by bicycle to work once a week, that could be considered an act of defiance against the powers that be. I guess I just found it a little ridiculous to consider one of our bicycle brethren a cause of us being at a sad war.

i've been in europe for four years now and coming back to the states
opens my eyes (even more) to the mentality of most americans
concerning the issue of transportation. i lived in texas before so i can
totally understand the problem of not driving a car. you really can't
get anywhere without alot of planning because everything is so far
apart. but if there was a good public transportation system that could
be combined with bicycles (like in europe) i don't think people would
use it because most people see bicycle/bus/train usage to be something
bad or at least lower class some how. its like if you use those methods
you're just poor or something, wtf.

word to the wise, nothing beats being able to hop on a train with your bike,
goto another city and be totally mobile within your new location. yay for bikes!
(and public transportation)

no, i agree for the most part, i just thought you were seriously asking....whoops. anyhow, i agree mostly...a person who rides a bike at all and any time they can avoid a car is all right in my book...y'know...

i commute most everyday to work 'cept saturdays when i go to da nyc after work. so i do about (let's see. . .4x24=96) 96 miles a week of commutin'. i actually wish it was a longer commute!! :)
