Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Remember when we were kids, and a friend would come over and be like, "Wanna go ride bikes?" yeah, that was sweet.

I had a friend in Vegas drunk dial me at 6AM this morning. (4AM his time) After laughing at his voicemail message, I decided to go for a nice trail ride.

Bikes are indeed, very good.

silver lining story--so i was supposed to go to nyc as usual today so last night i go get gas for the car (yeah i hate cars too but i have to get to nyc to see my babe and homeslice don't do no fung wah action--i want to live to ride some more!). anyway, on the way back to my house i get pulled over for non-registration. tow truck comes and tows me away and i have to pay 150 bucks to get it back and have to go to the dmv or whatever it's called and get straight. plus i paid 150 bucks for a tuxedo to go to this shindig with my chick tonight. a big ol' dance with open bar at columbia u. last year they had skyy vodka, maker's mark, and brooklyn beers and sierra nevada brew, etc. all topshelf booze. so i miss all that and am out a buncha dough. . .

but ya know what? i got to ride my bike into work (which i usually don't do on saturday as i go to nyc every saturday). so i get in an extra 24 mile r/t to work. and i get to ride all day tomorrow if'n i want as the weather is good here in boston. nice and sunny.

so it all works out. except for the money and hangin' with my hot chick.

hey bruno, remember that thread when you said you drove your Hummer to Starbucks and I believed you? Oh, man.

and bikes are awesome. but when its 69 outside with a cloudless sky, having to stare at your bikes because you're inside working... well, that's not awesome.

Other than commuting, sometimes when it's really gross outside (snowstorms), I love to bundle up and go on a survival ride. When it's so crappy outside the cars are afraid to come and play I get the whole of the city streets to myself. Great fun and an incredible workout!!!!

Walking away from headbutting a tercel to post about it = super good
Damn I love riding...I was recently banned from skateboarding ever again ...dislocated kneecap, that bummed me severely, but to not be allowed to ride again? Kill me now
