another prayer and blessing thread.
i'm not much of a praying guy, so i understand how other agnostics/atheists see that, but i hope you all know what i mean....
i'm not sure how much she wants me to say since it's up in the air, but my girlfriend, who some of you know a bit, possibly has a serious medical problem. we don't know yet. so while we're waiting, we at least need some patience and sanity. and hope for good results.

When you receive really bad medical news, people often do not know what to say, but they want to say something or do something ANYTHING to help. Unfortunately there is often very little they can do for you, but pray, think good thoughts. Offer help where they can. If this comes to pass you will probably get more unsolicited medical advice than you can shake a stick at. It can get repetitive, but knowing it comes from a place of wanting to help makes it a little easier to swallow.
I guess what I'm getting at is that all your friends will want to help in whatever way theyu can wether it's saying a prayer if they do that, or offering unsolicited advice, or just thinking good thoughts, it's all a way of sending love.
I hope the best for you and your girlfriend. I know this online community will be there for you in our own ways. I'm thinking good thoughts, and offering unsolicited non-medical advice. Accept what help is offered graciously even if it is not particularly helpful, realize it is offered as an expression of love. I'm sure your local friends will be there for you as well. If I was nearby I'd back up my kind thoughts with a nice ride and a cup of coffee.

Stay positive together, find the best doctors you can, get a second opinion and go with the rcommended treatment. Together you will overcome it. If praying helps, do it, but I wonder about a god (if there is such a thing) who does these terrible things in the first place.
Good luck.

theres that old bit of rilke in me that always wants to shout out "hope is not a strategy". of course, the second i feel something bad coming on the only thing to do is start hoping for the best.
it's good that she has someone like you next to her, that should provide immense help no matter how drowsy the circumstances are. support and well wishes, and please keep us all updated here. safe and speedy recoveries.

thanks for all the ones that appeared overnight. i showed this to her, i think she appreciates it...she's out to the doctor right now, so we'll see how things turn out. we may have to wait a while for results. sucks.
but we're feeling a lot better today, a lot more positive, and i appreciate your thoughts an awful lot.
