Summers always feel deceptively cheap; no heating bills to pay, less sitting around shopping for bike parts, more riding. Fewer Smartwool baselayers, more trips to Bill's Drive-In.

+1 for being comfy on your salary. Except you end up spending most of it at yojimbo's so it all evens out. Also, keep in mind whiskey specials at the California Clipper.

Rent one of those for a year and save a **** ton of money. The cost of living is high in comparison to most places, but at the same time like it was said before, the city is so big there is always inexpensive everything. I wish I was making 30 an hour

i stand corrected.....it seems like there are alot of places that are more expensive........I guess as far as the midwest goes it is probably more expensive, you guys pay extra for the ocean out there on the coasts.

なくなす (Godan verb with `su' ending) to lose, to miss
"nakusu" means to lose something, or someone (or specifically a wife/child depending on kanji). This just means "to lose."

+1 on what most have said here.
At $30/hr you'll live like a king...even at $15/hr you'll do well...depends on your lifestyle. I was just talking to a friend of mine who used to live in NY and moved here 5 years ago. He said he loved NY, but he felt that in Chicago "you can have a life...if you want to start a business, you can do it. If you want to buy a house, you can do it."
I'm moving into a new apt next week and spent the last 2 months looking (I'm picky). Been living here all my life (except for a 4 year stint in Boulder), and there's always something availible that's right for you. 2 bedrooms in Logan Square, UK Village, Lincoln Square, etc. can be had for $750 on up for something decent...probabaly cheaper in Pilsen like someone else already said. Good, cheap food is endless, as well as booze....Danny's, Goldstar, Delilahs, etc. Chicago is the **it.

Blah blah blah...
I don't want to get into the cost of living of Chicago versus everywhere else.
Just move here. Dooooooo iiiiiiiiiit. I meet very few people who don't like Chicago; and personally, I love it. "We" have everything you need: Wiskey, books, bikes, bikes paths, racial diversity, 600 great places to eat (it's possible I can't spell "restaurant"). We have museums, coffee, wiskey, coffee, wiskey, pimps and hoes, and lastly, wiskey. Oh, and coffee.

And checking this thread has kind of been distracting me from the whole working on the resume thing. Grr. Did chat with the first shifter down there, and he was running out of stuff to print a few hours ago. So I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to work on it when I get down there in a little bit...
