Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

cyclocross fixation

okay...lets give this one a try.

do you have what jim-bob might refer to as a "practicality fetish"?

are you sick of juvi-kyle running you over when you're on your hipster track bike?

lets see it.

i was considering some of the IRO 130mm hubs for the pompino. it's either those or on-one's hubs, which i can't seem to find outside of the UK. i guess i could always spring for levels or phil kiss-offs. so long as it's fixed/fixed. how are the IROs?

they've been zero maintenance. i rode them on a long tour, singletrack, commuting...everything. still smooth as day one. my only complaint is that the front is a QR.

i wonder if/when we'll get word about matt's NAHBS showpieces. it seems like most builders brought out something special. i'd really love to see what he had planned.

Bikes: track bikes, etc

My Kelly is done, I will try and take pics tomorrow. Lets just say Campag carbon levers really set it off and it came out to only 19 pounds.

edit: Matt Chester was the only person I was super excited to meet and shoot the **** with. His bikes ****in kill.

edit edit: I forgot I really wanted to meet Chris Kelly in person, great man.

edit edit edit: You asked for it...

Cross bike is gonna be my newest build. I'm going with gears though since I'm building it to be my summer bike for when I'm home in Hood River (small town, lots of hills, insane wind, live on a 1/2 mile dirt road at the top of a hill, etc.)
