Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

bike is up and running again thanks to the good folks at Appleton Bike and Fitness--great crew, great service.

All it took was a new chain---got a nice SRAM 9 speed chain--bike is in silent running mode

So the bianchi pista has a 3/32 drive train? I thought the 9speed chains were NOT preferred for track drivetrains. That's what I've been telling people. The idea of a chain that is designed to have large amounts of lateral movement enabling the rider to shift 9 gears seems like a bad chain for a fixed gear...

bp has 3/32 as standard. as long as the chain is tight and the cog and chainring aren't ramped (which they aren't) then the lateral flex issue of a road chain shouldn't be a problem.

how is a nine speed chain any worse than the standard road chain that comes with the bike?--the nine speed chain is actually tighter and fits more snug
