Quote: Interesting on the spoke length for drive side or non. I get my spokes from Marcus at Yojimbo's and he also gives me a set of 18 which are cut a tad shorter (36H Campy Record hub single side fixed). I imagine it doesn't matter but it is interesting that some people do that and some don't. Perhaps a double fixed is fine but not a single sided fixed?
Mine came from Travis at Freewheel, FWIW, and my hubs were single sided as well.

I repeat, front wheels do not have to translate hub torque to the rim, it doesn't matter how they're laced so long as there are enough spokes, and even 18 and 20 seem to be fine. People ride flatland BMX on radials for chrissakes.

Why am I even bothering?

but, just in case i'm being silly: can you think of a reason, other than the looks of it, to lace it radially?
As stated, they are vertically stiffer. Not to mention more aero. So, the functionality of the build is a bit more than just "radial is for looks and nothing more". I have a number of wheelsets, and each is built for a purpose in mind. Do I have a radial, yes. Was it for the looks, no. Has it failed, not in the last eight years that its been road raced.

The fact that you continue to bang the drum of fashion, then yes, perhaps it is a bit over the top for you.

I am building a few sets with these same components, and my calculations and measurements do indeed call for different lengths for drive and non-drive side(.7 mm). However, as Im getting spokes by the box, and they are 50 bucks a pop, Im just using the same lengths for both sides. In my opinion it will make absolutely no difference at all. Your first mile of riding on the wheels will affect relative spoke tension more than a .7 mm difference in spoke length.

By the way, for a 3-cross wheel with H.F. D.A.'s and deep-V's, you need 281's.
