Sucks that i won't be able to race tomorrow. Good luck to everyone

Yoshi 06-16-06 08:57 PM

So uh, kind of late notice, but does anyone want to meet up in the city and ride the start tomorrow morning? I don't exactly know my way there from manhattan...

12XU 06-16-06 09:02 PM

I just read this thread and was constantly wondering how you guys ended up getting so tired. Get some energy gel and be done with it.

mrRed 06-16-06 09:12 PM

I think because most people live about 10 miles from the start and some as far as 15 it adds the mileage up just to get there, do the ride and come home. So you end up with some mileage, some nasty hills, and being pretty exposed to the heat and sun for a few hours. Plus the freeway riding tends to make you push hard, and there's quite a few miles of that. The course is more or less like 10 miles of hills and 11 miles of ridiculously long and exposed straightaways and freeways. Its a tough course to push hard on, there's no easy section, no traffic to slow you down at all, and its one of the most fun rides i've done around here. I don't doubt that I'll continue going up there after the race.

Y'all dropped me crazy quick. I was plannin on riding back with chombo and DC, but they took the train, so I spent the next few miles sprinting to catch up with matt, who I finally got to, and than we caught up to about 5 blocks behind you when you turned left. We took the 3rd ave and I guess you took Willis, but I have no idea how I made it out of the Bronx that quick.

Great day, sorry I got us lost though ....
