There are, proverbially, many ways to skin a squirrel, but some hnunters claim the following one is the quickest and cleanest. It needs a sharp knife. To skin, cut the tail bone through from beneath, but take care not to cut through the skin of the tail. Hold the tail as shown on the left and then cut the skin the width of the back, as shown in the dotted lines (there is a really great diagram). Turn the squirrel over on its back and step on the base of the tail. Hold the hind legs in one hand and pull steadily and slowly, as shown in the center skethc, until the skin has worked itself over the front legs and head. While holding the squirrel in the same position, pull the remaining skin from the hind legs. Proceed then as for Rabbit, page 452, cutting off the head and the feet and removing the internal organs, plus two small glands found in the small of the back and under each foreleg, between the ribs and the shoulders. Stuff and roast squirrels as for Pigeons, page 475, barding them, or use them in Brunswick Stew, page 470, or prepare as for Braised Chicken, page 467. Season the gravy with Walnut Catsup and serve with Polenta, page 177. oh, also my original post which i didn't edit into a PM quickly enough to avoid this turning into a political debate:

I know for a FACT that I am not in the 'same category' as those people in any way - how can you associate supporting the freedom to do something (even if it's something you disagree with) with taking freedoms away? I respect the fact that you disagree with me on this issue, and I'd appreciate the same respect in return. |

no, they had peoples rights to overthrow a government in mind. of course the way technology is gone a violent revolution is pretty much impossible these days so it's pretty useless. I support peoples rights to own gun, but I also support having them all live as far away from me as possible....
I think everyone should be forced to fire a gun once in their life just so they can understand how terrifying they are. |

i just want to thank you all, this thread has been really entertaining. |
dirty - id love to see it happen. really. i think its gonna take less gun violence and more of a mass organization across the country... the patriot act scares me way more than guns do.

so, i just went to http://www.michiganmilitia.com/ and i have to say, it reconfirms my theory about "the crazier the organization, the crazier the website."
that thing is sad. you can glance at it and all the flashing and scrolling and just know the people behind it are un-sane. |
fascist paramilitary ≠ militia
it's you and I and everyone else here who is the REAL militia. we're the ones ultimately responsible for the safety and security of our country - not the government. that's what the second amendment is really all about - not guns themselves, although they are the means by which security is ensured. |
what about the Track Panthers, they will ****ing kill you without guns...those mother****ers are goin to take over the world

I can assure you that the only thing I hunt is paper targets, and the occasional bottle. I don't consider my guns an option for self defense because I live in a crowded apartment building. I see how one might consider them to be unnecessary, and respect that, but for me they are enjoyable, when, like anything else, enjoyed responsibly.
I dunno, this is always a huge debate I get into that nobody ever seems to win. What is bad for sure is the many many people that have them that really shouldn't. It is quite interesting to see completely different attitudes on the subject between more urban settings and where I am now. I guess I find myself somewhere right in the middle of that spectrum. And I dunno why I'm rambling on, maybe because I'm so used to talking to the guns'n'hunting crowd up here and I'm interested to see people with other opinions for a change. |

Oh dear, obviously chimbly you have not experienced the joy and romance of a nice evening alone in vermont with your significant other, a .22 pistol, a proper and safe place to shoot, and a whole **** load of beer cans. Nothing says love like making cans dance. That said, first rule of guns, if you think that you'll NEED one or that they make you safer you shouldn't be have one. Period.

"Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun." - Mao Tse-Tung
Guns are power, and until every single person in the world forsakes them at the same time, those with guns will have the power and those without won't. You're in a super comfy huge rich country, so it's understandable, but there are many areas of the world where to be 'anti-gun' is incredibly naive. I don't own guns, don't particularly like (or like being around) them, but I'm for damn sure not going to take away someone's right to own them. That's an individual decision. So, consider me 'pro choice'. Then again, I"m a crack shot with a Glock, and my inner child has a mullet. |
