I don't know..Sounds to good to be true...Kinda like that doctor offereing the other forum member the screaming deal when he saw he rides bikes.

1) He took you to his storage shed...If you have any questions, report it to the police as suspicious..you are off the hook-He would be stupid to take you there if he had stolen goods.
2) I have some wheels that I am trying to get rid of, if I saw someone on here asking about them, on CL, or even just riding around on a bike that they would go on, I might ask if they were interested.... It sounds like this guy was even more desperate than I am..

I don't know, Florida seems to be full of people with outrageous bike deals. Maybe the sun gets to them.

hyperRevue 05-09-06 12:48 PM

Bottom line is, stolen or not, nothing you need to do about it.

No_Minkah 05-09-06 01:02 PM

I feel OK about it. Better they're with me, someone who a. will be happy to give them back if the owner surfaces, and b. will ride the **** out of them and love them.

Edit: I edited the previous version of this post. Just so's ya know.

eddiebrannan 05-09-06 01:38 PM

so anyway, what else did he have for sale?

No_Minkah 05-09-06 01:44 PM

3 1960s Cinelli Supercorsas, chicagoamdream's Samson, and 1 Porsche GT2. Which he got from his friend who works at a Porsche dealership in Florida.

If he also had my copy of The Better of McSweeney's, Vol. 1, then this guy is, in fact, my roommate's ex-girlfriend, and is not to be trusted.

cogsci 05-09-06 03:54 PM

kludge 05-09-06 04:55 PM

im sorta on the fence about this. i mean the first bike i got when i moved to bay area was had for 60 bucks but the sum of its parts came out to be somewhere around 4 or 5 hundred easily. then again that was through craigslist.

mcatano 05-09-06 04:58 PM

I think it's great that so many people think their opinions on this actually matter.

kludge 05-09-06 04:59 PM

hey man....thats what msg boards are for.....

killsurfcity 05-09-06 05:12 PM

enjoy the wheels dude. if they were stolen, the victim got a life lesson equal to their value i'm sure. :D
one time i paid $18 to find out that you shouldn't walk through a heavily wooded park in the hood at midnight.

I should probably throw them away. You know, for my karma.
