fakin it
ok, i know there's no law that says you can't, but when you see a dude riding a soma pake with contrasting deep vs, clips, straps, bullhorns, a solitary front brake with an inline lever and basically the whole kit and caboodle and he COASTS to a stop, well, there's a small part of you that says he's fakin the funk. yeah i know he might have stripped the other side and he's using an old freewheel he had laying around to take the bike over to trackstar and pickhimself up a brand new DA 16-tooth, but still, you can't help thinking…

there is a guy in the city who rides an effing SEROTTA track bike around with a freewheel. ****ing sacrilege.
|
freewheels are for pu$$ies. in fact i think this forum should ban the SS part of it. i am serious.
|
I’m faking.... at least I’m honest, and only until I can get some shorter cranks on, I had the fixed on last night, went around a corner, hit the pedal on turn exit and nutted myself on the tube...

Ride what you want, but yeah, it is a little strange to see pimped out track bikes coasting.

Just to clarify, you guys aren't hating on single speeds in general, just Track frames that are built up SS, correct?

Y'all are some Haterade drinkin' Mo Fo's.
Just remember you get what you give. Enjoy |
I'll admit, I've done the "Heh, faker" thought. But banning freewheels from this forum? What about coaster brakes? And SS mtb's? You can't deny the love for both of those.

I'm the ultimate faker. I can't even ride a bike.
|
Haha, I don't know why I'm defending SS.
I'm just gonna pull up a chair and enjoy the show. |

That’s hilarious, you fixed gear elitists who are emulating messengers who are emulating track racers are gona point fingers. How about everyone ride their freaking bikes and STFU.
|
this thread has inspired me to run a freewheel today for the hell of it...haahahaha to the toolshed...
|
*puzzled look*
I just... why do you care if people ride fixed or freewheel? What's the big deal? I mean, I'm riding fixed; I tried freewheel for about 5 minutes, and yeah I thought, "This is dumb, I just just ride my geared bike." But maybe some people like freewheeling it, and why is it your -- our -- right to criticize them for it? And splitting the forum? I think that's dumb. We'll end up with another vintage/road bike situation... "Hmm... my bike is older, but it's a road bike. Should I post in vintage or road?" Especially when you consider freewheelers are fixed gear bikes from a certain point of view: if you're running 44x16 on a freewheeler, that gear's pretty fixed. Ain't no changing it until you get back home and take it apart. :) |
