Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? fakin it

ok, i know there's no law that says you can't, but when you see a dude riding a soma pake with contrasting deep vs, clips, straps, bullhorns, a solitary front brake with an inline lever and basically the whole kit and caboodle and he COASTS to a stop, well, there's a small part of you that says he's fakin the funk. yeah i know he might have stripped the other side and he's using an old freewheel he had laying around to take the bike over to trackstar and pickhimself up a brand new DA 16-tooth, but still, you can't help thinking…

I’m faking.... at least I’m honest, and only until I can get some shorter cranks on, I had the fixed on last night, went around a corner, hit the pedal on turn exit and nutted myself on the tube...

Ride what you want, but yeah, it is a little strange to see pimped out track bikes coasting.

i disagree. ride what we say ride. and that is fixed gear. i really want the mods to make a seperate forum for those who aren't strong enough to properly ride a bike.

Just to clarify, you guys aren't hating on single speeds in general, just Track frames that are built up SS, correct?

agreed. Its been happening more and more too. I see people on all sorts of nice track bikes, and I'm just a lil' dissapointed. I mean, its great that they're riding, but I'm sick and tired of being confused and left feeling cheated. The mental dialouge is killer "oooohhh ... purrty track bi... what the ****?? NEWMAN!!!"

I'll admit, I've done the "Heh, faker" thought. But banning freewheels from this forum? What about coaster brakes? And SS mtb's? You can't deny the love for both of those.

no we're against SS as a matter of principle. they need their own forum seperate from ours. i mean, what is the POINT of SS? why not just get gears? we really need to get this settled.

Haha, I don't know why I'm defending SS.

no chimbly, it's not. it's "bike love" for fixed gears. and you know it.
