fakin it

ok, i know there's no law that says you can't, but when you see a dude riding a soma pake with contrasting deep vs, clips, straps, bullhorns, a solitary front brake with an inline lever and basically the whole kit and caboodle and he COASTS to a stop, well, there's a small part of you that says he's fakin the funk. yeah i know he might have stripped the other side and he's using an old freewheel he had laying around to take the bike over to trackstar and pickhimself up a brand new DA 16-tooth, but still, you can't help thinking…

ChicagoDave 05-12-06 10:15 AM

there is a guy in the city who rides an effing SEROTTA track bike around with a freewheel. ****ing sacrilege.

brunop 05-12-06 10:17 AM

freewheels are for pu$$ies. in fact i think this forum should ban the SS part of it. i am serious.

tspinning 05-12-06 10:19 AM

I’m faking.... at least I’m honest, and only until I can get some shorter cranks on, I had the fixed on last night, went around a corner, hit the pedal on turn exit and nutted myself on the tube...

Ride what you want, but yeah, it is a little strange to see pimped out track bikes coasting.

i disagree. ride what we say ride. and that is fixed gear. i really want the mods to make a seperate forum for those who aren't strong enough to properly ride a bike.

dirty cookie 05-12-06 10:25 AM

i think mark twain would agree,

and just for fun FAKE THE FUNK

hyperRevue 05-12-06 10:25 AM

Just to clarify, you guys aren't hating on single speeds in general, just Track frames that are built up SS, correct?

agreed. Its been happening more and more too. I see people on all sorts of nice track bikes, and I'm just a lil' dissapointed. I mean, its great that they're riding, but I'm sick and tired of being confused and left feeling cheated. The mental dialouge is killer "oooohhh ... purrty track bi... what the ****?? NEWMAN!!!"

Y'all are some Haterade drinkin' Mo Fo's.
Just remember you get what you give.

Enjoy

I'll admit, I've done the "Heh, faker" thought. But banning freewheels from this forum? What about coaster brakes? And SS mtb's? You can't deny the love for both of those.

no we're against SS as a matter of principle. they need their own forum seperate from ours. i mean, what is the POINT of SS? why not just get gears? we really need to get this settled.

hyperRevue 05-12-06 10:31 AM

Derailleurs are a ****ing pain.
That's the appeal of SS.

freewheels are a pain as well. i will repeat. please ride fixed gear or do not post on this forum. thanks.

Shiznaz 05-12-06 10:34 AM

I'm the ultimate faker. I can't even ride a bike.

hyperRevue 05-12-06 10:35 AM

Haha, I don't know why I'm defending SS.
I'm just gonna pull up a chair and enjoy the show.

chimblysweep 05-12-06 10:35 AM

why rain on someone's parade?
it's bike LOVE, remember?

no chimbly, it's not. it's "bike love" for fixed gears. and you know it.

eddie has done us all a service in bringing this issue to the forefront.

hyperRevue 05-12-06 10:37 AM

Dick doesn't get censored?
Interesting...
