Campy hub questions (searched already)

Alright so I did a few searches and didn't quite find what I was looking for.

- Does anybody know how to identify older campy hubs? I think they're nuovo record but I'm not sure.
- I know campy hubs take a different lock ring but is the cog threading also different? My d/a cog starts resisting about half way on (by handturning).
- I know phil makes cogs that fit campy hubs but are the lockrings they use on their own hubs compatible or do you have to special order them?

Just scored a beautiful set of old campy/super champ track wheels and I really don't wanna strip em. Any advice would be appreciated.

As most cog threadings are similar you can use lots of different cogs without caring about threading. However, once a hub has gotten used to a particular type of cog you shouldn't mix ISO, British etc.

See this thread for advice:
https://www.bikeforums.net/singlespeed-fixed-gear/194545-eai-cog-problem.html

If your cog won't spin on by hand, don't force it. Clean everything and try again. Cogs should spin on quite easily by hand.

Nice score btw

You can use Phil locking rings, campy or EAI rings. All will probably have to be special ordered. Word seems to be that the EAI rings are the best for someone who pops and locks as much as you.

See this thread: https://www.bikeforums.net/singlespeed-fixed-gear/195305-lock-ring-campy-hub.html

use an eai cog and lockring! (or phil, or campy)
they're really nice quality (best quality) and they're made to work with your hub..
the dura-ace is not the right threading, although you might be able to fudge it (but why?)

record hubs have the globe logo on the barrel and are stamped 'record'
early hubs have the globe but were not marked record
hubs are stamped with a two digit date on the locknuts
high-flange hubs have often copied oval cutouts
true track hubs do not have oil ports and hence no steel spring clip cover on the barrel

c-record hubs have the funny lump on the barrels
high-flange hubs have distinctive updated flange design ('sheriff star')

cool hubs!
