that's the thing i've never really understood about people who are so offended by flagburning. they ramble on about how much the flag means and what it represents, when the very thing that the american flag SHOULD represent is my right to burn it. liberty? freedom? you may choose to demonstrate yours by waving a flag while others choose to demonstrate theirs by burning it. same concept.

so please explain to me WHY burning a flag is so offensive. i say not being allowed to burn on is a greater offense.

"and if this country is so goddamn free then i can burn your ****ing flag whenever i goddamn please. and then i'm gonna stick it up your ****ing ass!"

I've been quietly crafting an exit strategy for this whole Iraq mess. I'll post pictures as soon as I'm done. Keep checking back!!!!

I'm a writer, a journalist actually. I've worked for a number of magazines in Cincinnati, along with a fair amount of freelance stuff. Unfortunately, I've been so busy with preparing for graduate school, that I've slacked off on my writing and have only worked on a few minor projects, only because they were handed to me and I had nothing better to do that week. It's not that I'm lazy, but I'm merely letting my brain take a vacation until I start school again. ;)

And I would love to show people what I've done, but all in all, it's pretty boring. I have a few things in the works at the moment, and if all goes well, I'll have them done in the next month or two. At that time, I'll bump this thread and eagerly await the snide comments.

propa....ghandi.

skelly 06-22-06 11:47 AM

the ones who get most offended at a symbol of freedom and democracy being burned don't even seem to notice when the actual freedom and democracy are being trashed.

but back to the art, please!

onetwentyeight 06-22-06 11:49 AM

oops. not supposed to post this stuff.

I'll be doing some more recording this week. Not that recent, but my Myspace page (the music link) has some examples.

onetwentyeight 06-22-06 11:59 AM

i want to see more process pics.

onetwentyeight 06-22-06 12:41 PM

thanks. i ufortunately never took photos while i was printing, but next time i have some time at home I can pull up the color separations.

Terror_in_pink 06-22-06 12:44 PM

128 nice prints, you have studio set up somewhere? you have a nuarc? how are you burning your screens?

piratelove 06-22-06 12:57 PM

I dont have access to jack **** anymore :(

I miss printing.

alaska 06-22-06 01:08 PM

printing is about a 250watt bulb and a couple of old door hinges. my **** is nowhere as nice and thought out as yours, 128, but if you really love to print you can do it with whatever.

made three hundred of these in my garage.

onetwentyeight 06-22-06 01:10 PM

my current problem is lack of space and money really. Ive been doing a little wood block printing in my room but nothing anyone gets to see :)

alaska 06-22-06 01:16 PM

nice. if it's like your other stuff you should probably show those to me.

onetwentyeight 06-22-06 01:19 PM

no :)

im still working on printing technique. i am printing the traditional japanese way and its harder than the european.

skelly 06-22-06 01:58 PM

i don't have room to build up my own exposure table, and i doubt my roommates would want the shower to double as a sink for washing the photo emulsion...

isn't there some kind of screenprinting facilities for artists, maybe with a monthly fee or something? i just graduated and lack of a 24-hour fully-stocked school studio sucks...

It is against the policies. No solicitation, dammit! Unless of course you have a red star and you are in the Marketplace forums.

in philly you can go to space 1026 for that. in NYC you can go to the center for book arts or ABC NO RIO.

skelly 06-22-06 02:19 PM

killsurfcity 06-22-06 06:31 PM

i have printed at 1026 a bunch and unless things have changed, you can't just walk in and use ****. however, non menbers (like myself) can use the facilities from time to time.

i'll post some later...
