2)You're right but I can read and look at pictures. -revolving fads is an upscale fashion boutique -ridiculous to the point of being practically unrideable bikes And those two things lead me to conclude this dude is a ******bag. 3. Unless that aluminum disk is so heavy as to only be useful for really long tts its not cheap. Not cheap at all. Disks are not very good for riding around so even if it was super cheap because only fad chasers and hour ttists would be interested in it putting it on the bike is still purely ostentatious. 4. Am I not allowed to ridicule people who do stupid stuff anymore. Am I a hater for making fun of my old mexican neighbors who lowered their car with a hacksaw to the poitn where the outsides of the tires where visibly off the ground. What exactly is this dude good at anyway? predicting fads? taking fads to new levels of ridiculousness? Making money of other hipster ******bags by supplyiing them with all of thier fad needs? I believe those songs are generally about how its not dudes faults they **** around but rather the worlds fault for making them do so. |

uhhhh I wasn't asking about anyones car but rather if he rides with the saddle like that or its like ricer show cars that get lowered to the point of touching the ground for photos. |
do you want to argue about clips and straps again? that was fun.
lighten up. that panasonic is a text book example of someone having some fun building a bike. yea, it may not be totally practical, but who cares? someone is having FUN, and building somethign that makes them happy. Anyone who builds a bike like that surely has another more practical bike, its fun to go crazy with something now and again. |
maybe some other time.

cmon sir its only a quarter

i like the polished sugino 75's.
it's my feeling that the only thing that rear wheel has going for it is what it's going to lose quickly - why bother riding it at all. the wheel makes that bike and i think the worse it looks, the more slapped together the whole setup's going to look. i think it would be best kept and used as a store display or for promotions. on the other hand if it was was diy and done on the cheap, i'd say go house. i'm sure for the small fortune it probably sold for, one could at least get a better fitting pink keirin frame with some slick looking, smooth rolling wheels. to each their own, and it's not often i can or will say this, but that setup was likely a waste of money. why base an investment in an aesthetic that won't last or improve? |

Wow, this thread sprouted legs again. I'm lovin' it.

btw, even if that bike was built for all the wrong reasons (a fact that i'm not entirely convinced of), and is a little bit stupid (a fact, period), it is still badass. |
The bile in this thread is funny. I live in San Diego, which is so laid back it's hard to even get worked up about the few hipsters we have. (Maybe it's because I'm old, but that's another issue.)
Most of the fashion victims only come out at night, and stick to a few small areas. The vast majority of cyclists are functional - long stretches of the coast are populated by roadies, beaches are filled with folks on beach cruisers, trails have mountain bikers, the velodrome is where all the trackies hang out, etc. You just don't see bikes like this. I think it's cool in an 'over the top, and I'd never own it myself' way, like any car-show type design. |
Dear BF'ers,
you guys are dissapointing. Here I thought we were gonna talk about how amazing Nas' Illmatic is and then we were gonna recite lyrics. oh well... |
Back in my day this site had some real heros that dropped science daily like dutret here. I miss those days...

Therefore the weight savings is a valid reason too and higher spoke count radials are a good offer weight/durability ratio when more strenght is needed. The high flanged hub has an added benefit with the radial spoke pattern of being more able to deal with the increased tension. The weight of the flanges doen't contribute to the moment of inertia much at all so we can disregard that when talking about wheel weight anyway. That said this bike disgusts me and I'm sure none of those rational reasons went into the owners choice of using that wheel. Show bikes(and show cars or stupid ass choppers for that matter) are absurd status symbols and nothing more. Yes they are aesthetic objects but the only creativity that goes into making them is creativity in streching tired cliches to new extremes. I really could care less about how much cred this jackass has or whatever. The type of person that would throw that much money into building a bike based on form over function is the type of ******bag I would rather avoid. |
The photog's been riding fixed since about 2001, does he at least get BF cred? Vroom Vrooom Vrrrrooooooooooommmmmm!!!!!!!
edit: photog for the website that is. |

I can't believe it has come to this, but,
"Four albums in ten years?/ I can divide/ That's one every 'bout two years, two of them was doo/ One was hmmm, the other was Illmatic/ That's-a one hot album every 10 year average." |
my girl built a pink bareknuckle with powder coated V's. Looks nice. Rides nice. and she'll probably beat you in a race.
"fashion bike"? maybe. Does she ride? hard and fast. maybe we should wait and see if this bike gets ridden before we trash it. a somewhat related story... back in the day we used to build and ride and compete lowriders. these guys would show up with these amazing pieces, dipped in gold, and whatnot. when it came time for best-in-show, they had to ride the bike 100', turn it around and ride it 100' back without scraping the pedals. they all scraped pedals. the best-in-show winner was always some 11 year old kid who rode his bike to the show. |
