Wright Brothers Cycle Works in fremont is the shiz. for 30 bucks you can buy a membership to their workshop and use their tools... for life. charles can be grumpy, but if you want to learn about stuff it's worth having him grump at you for a while. they also have a couple of classes you can take, basic maintenance, wheel building. the prices there might not be the cheapest but he can get you just about anything.
also, Greggs will build you a wheel. they don't really advertise it but their wrenches are fairly knowledgeable about FG/SS stuff. they also have reasonable prices. not to mention they back their stuff pretty well so if you get a wheelset built, you'll probably be able to get any minor issues fixed for free in a couple minutes if you just take it in there.

I've gotten attitude at recycled.
also a little [what I preceived as] snobbery for having a production track bike.
but then again, there's one mechanic there who was rad and helped me out and when I saw him in the city later on in the week said hello.
i vote counterbalance. nothing but good.
I miss seattle.

Yeah, I used to go to Recycled loyally but stopped because of their customer service. They have the developed the roady **** head vibe.
My order would be 1) 20/20.... Alex and April rock... 2) Mobius just rocks in general 3) Aaron's for sure.
**** Velo.

Yeah ive met her before too. she totally seems nice.
i love the atmosphere at the shop too. has such a friendly vibe. they help out everyone. while i was there once someone walked in with a guitar and alex took a look at it and fixed whatever the issue was quick.
