Whatever.

WakeUpOnFire 07-23-06 10:17 PM

I agree, I just find it a little amusing. I wish I could carry my girlfriend like that...

les walters 07-23-06 10:21 PM

****ing man trying to bring us down dont they know that riding bikes is way underground and they cant treat us like this

Jimbobunyons 07-23-06 10:30 PM

It happens with everything... and most of the time it really pisses me off.

That being said, I dont mind seeing bike culture on advertisments.

Biking is something that everyone SHOULD be interested in.

And if it takes people THINKING it is cool to do it, then so be it.

jmgorman 07-23-06 10:35 PM

You know what - if that ad gets my little brother, who wears that ****, to ride a bike (any bike!)... well you know.

MLPROJECT 07-23-06 10:39 PM

who cares!

Fugazi Dave 07-23-06 10:51 PM

OH OH and iPods!

HereNT 07-23-06 11:20 PM

Actually thinking about getting one of them mp3 player thingies, not for the commute, but for the longer rides to nowhere... As much as I hate trying to pass people that can't hear me saying 'on your left' I kind of want something to drown out my own panting for air...

Umm, what was this thread about again? A bike with no rear brake?

bikesrbetr 07-23-06 11:22 PM

seriously who cares, they're riding a bike, other people are aloud to do that also. A BIKE! i mean come on people.

crayonsemble 07-23-06 11:47 PM

this means that whoever posted this was looking at the american eagle website.
enough said.

TNCLR 07-24-06 12:23 AM

pitboss 07-24-06 12:26 AM

Dude, if we search hard enough, we can find anything to get upset about.

For example:
- I'm sure that military types could get upset about the camo backpack
- Racists could get upset about the mixed couple
- Abstinance freaks could get upset about the sexually suggestive pose
- Photogrpapers and graphic designers could get upset about the badly-photoshopped and mixed lighting scene

As the adage goes: You can't please everybody.

Don't sweat it. It's really not a big deal. This nor any of the other "bike culture has been compromised" threads. Bikes are everywhere. Would this photo be "OK" if it were a MTB or a cruiser?

I don't know about you guys, but I'm still gonna ride my bike tomorrow.

pitboss 07-24-06 01:44 AM

I'm gonna ride mine down to the Jim Jones store.

shakeNbake 07-24-06 02:39 AM

Why the **** are you in the AE website anyways?

:)

Aeroplane 07-24-06 06:08 AM

That's so sexual.

mihlbach 07-24-06 06:45 AM

Come on guys...wheres the Nathian Fabian mutated version of this? I would have expected to see one before post #20.

I went to college with one of their art directors, so yeah, I'm really pissed about the poor design.

TheDL 07-24-06 09:07 AM

I feel so unclean...

soyboy 07-24-06 09:14 AM

i think it's interesting that they're using such an urban thing as cycling(i bike commuted when i lived in the suburbs but noone else did) and placing it on what looks like a suburban library, maybe it's supposed to be a college campus, but it's basically saying "we know our crowds are suburban white kids"

My favorite pair of shorts ever were American Eagle. They just fit so good, and were so comfy. I got e at salvation army for $2. Sadly they died the horrible death of the ripped out ass like so many before them. I'll never be able to replace them, but maybe one day I will find another pair of shorts I like as much.
