Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

Why I Stopped Trackstanding, And Started Jumping

....cuz track bikes suck off road. And my wheels won't stay true when I bomb the stairs.

I traded my Bianchi for an On-One Gimp.

It's still a singlespeed, so sorry haters, I'm still around.

Good trade. You can still trackstand with your Gimp, too though.

It's just as easy to track stand on a freewheel as it is with a fixed.

that's just plain not true, but this is the internet, and i understand the urge to ego-inflate thyself.

still, its doable, most of the time it just takes a little upslope.

True true but it's way more fun or so I discovered thanks to Chimbly's Gunnar of doom.

Why are all of On-One bikes given such ******** names? I absolutely love the seatstays on the Inbred, but I refuse to ride a bike called an Inbred.

Is it because MTBers are goofier than trackies?

Companies that make MTB's generally make more than one, unlike track bikes, so names are required. And 90% of track stuff has the word "pista" involved in it, how generic is that?

Let's not get into a pissing contest here. Obviously, it's trickier to stand w/ a freewheel bike, but it's doable and not too difficult on level ground. Hell, even I can do it, so it's easy You'd need to be a trials rider of sorts to do it on even a moderately steep downhill... or Nathan Fabian, of course.

OP: how the eff did you buy a track bike if you want to ride offroad and down stairs??? I guess you didn't know then that you'll want to...

I feel you. I just bought an Ironhorse 7point3 and it has been recieving a truly disproportionate amount of my riding attention. That and my singlespeed azonic steelhead build...as my track bike weeps in the corner.
