"forte" tires?

Are those Performance house brand ("Forte") kevlar belted tires any good? What about the "pro" model?

(this was originally going to be a three-part question, but I answered two of 'em myself. gah.)

I have had one on my rear wheel for 3 weeks. I haven't had any problems yet. Pretty cheap. I am happy. Oh yeah, it is not the "pro" model. What is the difference?

no idea. I suppose the "pro" could be lighter, different tread? it had better reviews at the performance site, so perhaps it's actually superior...

I just ended up ordering some Specialized Armadillo All-Condition Sport tires from the Specialized site-- $22 each. I had very good luck with those in the past, even down here in wayward cactus thorn country...

I've been running 700c forte kevlar belted tires for awhile here- for the $7 i paid, they're pretty good tires.

I'm thinking of getting a stickier front tire & keeping the forte on the back.

somewhat related: I've been running the Nashbar Prima 2 Plus kevlar belted tire for a while and haven't had any problems/flats. they're not always the easiest tire to get on the rims but it can be done w/o a lever.

I have 8 "Forte" tires running now and have used that many up. They are a great tire. The black part has a small "National Tire Company" molded into it if you look real close. So do Panaracers. Same big tire company.

The mail order catalogue lists the differences between the different models. This is the best way to compare the tires. Just tell them you want the catalogue.

In the 23mm size the "pro" is just 1 gram lighter. 216 vs 215 Some of the other sizes have a bigger difference.
also the pro is all black, the regular "Forte" has yellow sidewalls. The pro is a newer tire. As a new tire comes out the older models just go down in price. The Pro SL is 190g in 23mm.

equipment > road tires > competition > all condition sport tire

for some reason these are not listed as being dillos-- but I'm 99% certain they're similar to my last set...which said Armadilllo.

product details say "Exclusive Flak Jacket aramid/elastomer subtread extrusion reduces flats by 60% with less than 1gm weight penalty"......
