just broke a toshi

pissed about it too. a single, kevlar laminated. had it maybe 6 months, if that. should've lasted longer imo.

ps it broke at the "bend" coming out of the pedal on the inside. something to pay attention to

mks gr-9 pedals, so no flange. the straps took a while to break in, to the point where they weren't getting caught on the crank when my foot wasn't in em. i guess that breaking in wore them thin at that point and backpressure snapped em.

the book is always open.

eddie - odd, I have had a set of sprints on my pedals for about 3-4 years now with no issue. maybe look into a set of those.

maybe i'll try errebis next. thanks [165]. these lovely $40 straps broke sooner than a $5 set i had on my first conversion!

funny thing is i'm not much of a hard skidder, more a skipper, but just before i broke it i was sort of jamming my legs more at stops.

i expect that's what did it

Errebi's delaminate quickly, and the only breakage problems I've ever had has been with Errebi's.

Bikes: bfssfg iro--black.

did it break from rubbing against the pedal?
or did it snap from some other reason?

what?! i'm with 11.4 on this one. i've had my
errebis for about a year and i've had to glue
them back together twice and the nylon core
is busted on the back half of one strap.

i wouldn't recommend them for prolonged
outdoor use. maybe the mks doubles or toshi
doubles. or if you really want to throw away
some money ....kashimax.

Yeah, I can't recommend them either. Mine cracked while installing and are on their last leg after less than a year.

edit: I am referring to the sprints.

i'm shocked. i can't see my toshi's breaking anytime soon. they're still super thick and supple. strange how everyones experiences are so varied.

Bikes: , Jury Bike, Moto Outcast 29, Spicer standard track frame and spicer custom steel sprint frame.

when molded pedals sometimes have rough edges where the strap comes through if you take a file and file the rough edges down till smooth it will solve you problem I have friends who have had the same problem with toshis on mks and other pedals the rough edges where the mold seams are can cut a strap in about a week

i filed the edges on my gipiemme sprint pedals.
not only did i make the edges smooth, but the
holes a bit wider so i could get those damn things
threaded on the pedals.

what pedals do you all use? as our experiences with straps seem to vary, maybe the pedals are the issue. no pedal nor strap was designed for the amount of backpressure we apply, but maybe some combinations hold up better.

The errebis I've had ive been riding since last december, they still are in good shape and no sign of delamination. drac vamps pair however, looks like crap and I dont trust them. I am really digging my new MKS doubles though. For pedals I have suntour sprints on one, and campy record pista pedals on the other.

maybe not backpressure but a strong track racer with cleats can put alot more pressure on the strap/pedal then pretty mucch anyone here can.
