Singlespeed & Fixed Gear "I still feel that variable gears are only for people over forty-five. Isn't it better to triumph by the strength of your muscles than by the artifice of a derailer? We are getting soft...As for me, give me a fixed gear!"-- Henri Desgrange (31 January 1865 - 16 August 1940)

What is wrong with me?

i can't figure it out. i'm 300 miles from the nearest velodrome. the closest thing i've got is a high school track nearby (scratch races, anyone?)... i already own 4 good bicycles, and can only ride one at a time. now i've been putting an obsessive amount of thought into building up a track-specific bike- the real deal, not just another street machine... what is wrong with me? should i see a doctor? should i cease practicing sprint skips and track stands? should i throw away my rollers and stay off the streets? is there a twelve-step program for fixaholism? this isn't right at all.

Just sell one or more of your current bikes, I heard it makes people feel better.

Oh yeah, and I am looking for a street machine with track dropouts by the way.

Get married. It will cure you of spending large amounts of money on bikes.

+1 on selling.
I was up to 17 bikes when I thought "This is silly".
I've sold three and looking forward to selling more.
My ppal account is <FAT> and I'll probably spend it on a custom when I sell a few more bikes.

yesss... that's it. if i sell lots of my stuff, i'll have more room in the house for more bikes! my sofa with the cat-clawed arms have got to be worth a few bucks, and the second-hand table lamps... wait, i need those. i can't wrench in the dark. i've got some old jeans with stains and holes, i've heard that those are worth a lot of money on ebay... there may be a solution here. so i've been daydreaming for a felt and have a fetish for fetish... i'm going coocoo for carbon...

Only if your wife doesn't ride and is a controlling maniacal *****.

Personally, I don't have this problem. Maybe people who think that this is true should get divorced.
